Qualifications and Detail about the Position
A Lead Safety Coordinator is defined as someone with a minimum of five (5) years' direct field experience in their related field and has obtained their NCSO Certification. Their responsibilities shall be to provide safety leadership for site activities with the objective of providing safe, reliable, and cost-efficient services to customers. The Lead Safety Coordinator supports the health and safety activities of the Company and Client, through proactive involvement in the implementation and enforcement of safety programs to prevent unsafe conditions on their designated job location. The Lead Safety Coordinator will assist site supervision with all incident investigation and root cause analysis where necessary. The Lead Safety Coordinator shall receive their directives from the Safety Manager/Site Superintendent or Project Manager and is responsible for supervising the Field Safety Coordinators.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Five (5) years' direct field experience in their related field and CSST Certification.
• Craft knowledge in scaffolding, insulation, fireproofing and painting (preferred) or equivalent plant operations/maintenance experience.
• Posses advanced troubleshooting and communication skills to solve complex problems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Able to mentor and lead the safety culture on site.
• Professional and concise communication in written and oral form.
• Excels at operating in a fast pace and diverse environment.
• Strong computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work in diverse work groups and settings
• Formal root cause analysis training and experienced in incident investigation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Promote, demonstrate and instill Brock's Bsafe and Bbest culture in all aspects of the business
• Conduct daily inspections and observations of work areas and liaise with supervisors and the crew relating to matters of Health, Safety, and Environment.
• Review and provide feedback to Supervisors and crew on hazard assessment and risk assessment documents.
• Ensure that all requirements of the Health and Safety Program are being carried out by all project personnel, including management, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and other parties working on or visiting the project site.
• Provide support and direction to the field crews in the use of the Health and Safety Manual.
• Attend job and safety equipment demonstrations.
• Coordinate and participate in testing of the overall Emergency Plan.
• Coordinate, prepare, and implement orientation sessions.
• Provide topics, attend, and evaluate Tool Box & Weekly Safety meetings and provide instructive guidance to the Supervisors conducting the meetings.
• Tracks and maintains site incident trends and statistics.
• Completion and submission of incident investigations and reports, as per the Brock Incident Management System.
• Ability to oversee HSE requirements of project.
• Ability to set direction, communicate Brock's safety mission and manage process while inspiring, motivating and leading people toward achieving and exceeding safety goals.
• Participates in administering company policies.
• Promote HSE awareness and responsibility through safety meetings, communications and training programs.
• Monitor, evaluate, and take action on all sub-standard conditions and work practices.
• Establishes and maintains electronic record keeping for all site-specific training activities.
• Presents information and helps train current operations and personnel on company related safety procedures.
• Assists with the management of injury case management.
• Assists with periodic audits of potentially hazardous work areas, practices, procedures and process operations.
• Implements Job Hazard Analysis and Safety Incentive Programs.
• Interacts with field/site management.
• Maintain the worker information bulletin board.
• Monitors field compliance with company procedures.
• Ensure compliance with the Clients Health and Safety program.
• Comply with Client specific requirements for reporting and communication relating to Health, Safety and the Environment.

ORIENTATION - Must be able to successfully pass Brock and/or Safety Council Site Specific Orientation requirements.
HEAVY WORK - Lifting up to 50 pounds of force from the floor to the waist and 35 pounds of force from the waist to above shoulder.
CLIMBING - Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and the like, to elevations in excess of 100 feet, to maintain three-point contact at all times.
LADDERS - Using vertical ladders Frequently up to 100 feet - Activity exists up to 60% of the work shift.
STAIRS & RAMPS - Using stairs or ramps: Occasionally up to 100 feet - Activity exists up to 40% of the work shift.
BALANCING - Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, on unprotected elevated surfaces using fall protection equipment; or maintaining body equilibrium when performing scaffold construction at elevations using fall protection equipment. Frequently - Activity exists up to 60% of the work shift.
STOOPING - Bending body downward and forward by bending at the waist, requiring full use of the leg and back muscles on a repetitive basis. Frequently - Activity exists up to 60% of the work shift.
KNEELING - Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. Occasionally - Activity exists up to 40% of the work shift.
CROUCHING - Bending the body downward and forward by bending legs and waist. Frequently - Activity exists up to 60% of the work shift.
REACHING - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in order to receive materials from ground level weighing up to 50 pounds as it is being passed and 35 pounds from overhead. Frequently - Activity exists up to 60% of the work shift.
GRIPPING - Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands to receive materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Picking, pinching, or otherwise working with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling. Frequently - Activity exists up to 60% of the work shift.
VISION - Have 20/40 vision with or without correction in at least one eye.
HEARING - Must be able to hear a forced whispered voice in one ear, the better ear, at not less than five feet with or without the use of a hearing aid.
