Director, Health & Safety

Lifesteps, Inc., a human services agency headquartered approximately 30 miles north of Pittsburgh in Butler, PA is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Director.  

The Health and Safety Director is responsible for providing health and safety program oversight for the individuals in our care and staff. The Manager will build a zero-incident work culture by developing, implementing and continuously improving the Organization’s Health and Safety Programs. The Health and Safety Director ensures the Agency and its two subsidiaries understand the health/safety legal obligations and compliance requirements.  

This full-time position is based in Butler, with occasional travel throughout western Pennsylvania, and works a primary schedule of Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.    

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:  

  • Engaging the workforce in the promotion and achievement of safe and healthy working conditions
  • Monitoring compliance related to OSHA / Life Safety regulations
  • Advising Leadership on matters related to health and safety
  • Providing oversight of Procedures and/or Policies related to safety
  • Reporting metrics
  • Conducting safety inspections
  • Creating and conducting training for staff 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health (or related field) OR equivalent combination of education/certifications and experience
  • Two (2) years of prior experience leading the Health and Safety function
  • Prior experience in Healthcare, Long-term Care, Public Health or Human Services
  • Knowledge of OSHA industry specific standards
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Valid Driver’s License and Automobile Insurance
  • Ability to travel independently to assigned locations
  • Ability to provide acceptable clearances
