Job Details

The HIM Data Coordinator is responsible for EMPI integrity/Chart Correction, Insurance Audit Preparation, Release of Information for Regulatory Requestors, timely and accurate SPARCS submission.

The Data Coordinator Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:

  • Prepares Medical Records in the Electronic record system to be released to regulatory and other requestors.
  • Prepares Medical Records for insurance audits that require specific data analysis and review prior to submission.
  • Works with the HIM supervisor on any projects requiring data entry or processing as required.
  • Revises admit and discharge dates when necessary
  • Works with the EMPI team on chart correction.
  • Processes cancelled cases and addresses room and bed charges.
  • Coordinates Master Patient Index corrections, ie, merges
  • Prepares medical records for performance improvement studies and service committees, meeting established deadlines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of SPARCS reporting system. Insures timely submission of all cases and coordinates and completes corrections.
  • Willingly accepts additional assignments.
  • Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
  • Maintains a good working relationship within the department and other departments.

 

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Completes annual education requirements.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements, including all federal, state, local regulations and accrediting organization standards.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Minimum educational level of Associate Degree, Bachelor's Degree strongly Preferred
  • 2 or more years of similar previous hospital experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of electronic health record systems
  • Experience in working with Excel.
  • Previous SPARCS experience preferred
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds and sit for long periods of time.

The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
