Job description

About This Role:

The Product Safety & Compliance Engineer ensures that products are compliant with the published and required regulations. Understands the purpose, requirements, and trends of regulations, and administers compliance and certificate programs for current and future products.

Demonstrates behavior that is consistent with the company’s values of Customer Satisfaction, Innovation, Family, and Social Responsibility. 

Essential Job Functions/Tasks:

  • Administers compliance and certificate programs for current and future products.
  • Works with certifying agencies to ensure product conformance is achieved and maintained.
  • Understands regulatory trends and keeps current with new regulations.
  • Reviews and updates compliance documents.
  • Generates declarations to certify the compliance of Hunter products.
  • Supports Marketing and Sales in assessing existing and/or designating future certifications.
  • Supports various engineering groups to help develop tests that simulate actual certification testing.

Education/Training Required and Preferred:

  • Required bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering preferred.

Experience Required and Preferred:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Regulatory Compliance, including working with third party agencies for certification and audit of products. Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting techniques related to compliance issues.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interface with all levels of employees, vendors, and customers.
  • Skilled in mathematical and statistical techniques.
  • Able to travel to test sites, customer locations, suppliers, and trade shows.
  • Knowledge of Electrical, Manufacturing, and Environmental regulations, such as UL, CE, IEC, SAA, FCC, RCM, RoHs, Reach, WEEE, Energy Star, MEPS, Water Sense, NEMA, IP, etc.
  • Knowledge of test equipment and procedures, such as oscilloscope, power supplies, environmental chambers, HALT/HASS chambers, etc.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and product assembly.
  • Strong project management skills preferred.
  • Experience with testing of electronic products especially for EMC and RED preferred.
  • Experience with product risk assessment preferred.
  • Knowledge of international regulations preferred.
