Job description

Job Title: Metro Transit Safety Ambassador (union position with union benefits)
$ 22.07 per hour (Weekly Pay, Pay Advance Before Pay Day, Free Uniforms, Great Benefits!)
Shift available:
1st shift - 7:00am - 3:30pm
2nd Shift - 2:30pm - 11:00pm
Metro Transit Safety Ambassador Program - Downtown Saint Paul. Metro Transit operates numerous bus stops throughout downtown Saint Paul, in addition, to three primary light rail platforms: Central Station, Union Depot, and 10th & Cedar Station. These high-traffic transit locations serve as critical access points for residents, commuters, and visitors navigating the downtown corridor.
The Metro Transit Safety Ambassador Program is a proactive initiative designed to enhance the overall safety, cleanliness, and customer experience within these transit environments. Ambassadors are strategically assigned to one of the three platforms, where they maintain a consistent and visible presence throughout their shift.
While on duty, Ambassadors conduct ongoing assessments of their assigned platform. This includes identifying and addressing concerns such as litter, vandalism, graffiti, and any violations of the established rider code of conduct. Through diligent observation and timely reporting, Ambassadors play a key role in preserving the integrity and functionality of these public spaces.
Ambassadors serve as the face of the transit system, delivering professional, courteous, and approachable customer service. By offering directions, assistance, and positive interactions, they foster a welcoming atmosphere that enhances public confidence and promotes respectful use of the transit system.
This role is performed exclusively through foot patrol, reinforcing accessibility, visibility, and direct engagement. Through their combined focus on safety, cleanliness, and hospitality, Platform Safety Ambassadors contribute significantly to creating a secure, well-maintained, and user-friendly transit experience in downtown Saint Paul.
Requirements:
  • Experience preferred. We will train.
  • Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse (may include riding a bike) continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions (free uniforms provided)
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.
