Position: SQL Server DBA 

Duration: 1 Year 

Location: TX-500 W Dove Rd-Southlake (TX0549)

Direct Client: Immediate interview 

Job Responsibilities 


Planning, building, implementing, administering, and maintaining SQL SERVER databases in the Commercial Data Systems (CDS) organization. Builds and successfully integrates complex, multi-Terabyte OLTP databases with minimal supervision. Ensures optimal database performance through exhaustive pre-service testing and ongoing real-time monitoring. Troubleshoots issues to resolution. 

Maintains database security and enterprise policy guidelines according to best practices. Recommends new and improved guidelines to ensure high availability and stability 

Works directly with internal customers to plan, evaluate, and design network databases in accordance with team and company standards. Conducts benchmark tests to gauge hardware capacity and meet application capacity requirements. Documents business and technical requirements. Creates technically viable, cost-effective system designs and develops customer-focused implementation strategies. Mentors other DBAs in the group. 

Provides tasks and timelines to support the creation of project plans with appropriate updates for those tasks throughout the project lifecycle. 

Performs On-Call duties as assigned on a rotational basis. Occasional overnight travel to other company work locations as required. 


Qualifications 

Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other related degree, relevant military experience. 

Sql Server DBA with 5+ years of SQL Expertise in SQLServer release 2008. At least 5 years of sql server DBA experience in an enterprise environment supporting all aspects of a sql server Database Server with emphasis on 2-tiered and 3-tiered architecture. 

Experience in newer SQL Server releases/high availability solutions and release upgrades is strongly desired. 

Strong experience in monitoring and tuning sql server databases for optimum performance and assistance in capacity planning of sql server database servers. Deep knowledge about Relational Database design and analysis; extremely proficient in SQL. 

A minimum of 5 years of experience is required in the following skillset: 

SQL Server replication 

Setup bi-directional replication technology 

Create and maintain table partitions 

Ensure changes are deployed without impacting replication. 

Design, develop and maintain SSIS packages and SSRS reports 

Windows operating system and storage to be able to design high performance environment 

SQL development including package/ procedure/ trigger/ XML/scripting development in a multi-user production environment. 

Development experience in either development environment or automation of production activities would be a plus. 

Golden Gate replication (SQL Server/Oracle) experience a plus (1 Year) 

Must possess excellent organization skills. 

Must be able to prioritize and support multiple concurrent projects with inputs from multiple groups. 

Able to work independently with accuracy and attention to detail. 

Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access. 


Environment 

Must have the ability to function in a tight knit team environment and must be willing to work Change Control Windows on a very regular basis. 

Must be willing to challenge yourself with regard to learning new applications as well as new Oracle components that support new platforms on fairly short timelines. 

Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. 

Must be able to work independently with accuracy and attention to detail.
