Job Description

Shipping Clerk

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk supports warehouse dock employees, carriers, and the corporate office by ensuring the smooth flow of inbound and outbound shipments. This role is responsible for identifying and resolving issues in shipping and receiving processes, while maintaining accurate documentation and compliance with company standards. The clerk communicates effectively with all departments to coordinate activities, ensuring production and shipping schedules are met on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and on time
  • Follow all shipping and receiving requirements (SQF, GDP, Allergen Identification, S/R SOPs)
  • Maintain safe, clean, and clutter-free work areas
  • Report product damages immediately to warehouse and quality management
  • Demonstrate and explain job functions to co-workers as needed
  • Support and sustain warehouse safety programs
  • Prepare bills, invoices, and other shipping documents
  • Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents; record shortages and reject damaged goods according to SOPs
  • Maintain accurate internal record-keeping systems
  • Contact appropriate resources to gather required information
  • Follow proper shipping procedures for transportation of products
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement and Safety projects as required

Skills/Qualifications

  • HACCP/GMP/SQF experience preferred Valid forklift certification
  • Basic math and reading skills
  • Successfully use Microsoft programs.

Physical Requirements

  • Flexibility to work various shifts and schedules
  • Strong multitasking skills
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work in freezer conditions (as low as -10°F)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Available to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as necessary.
  • Able to stand for sustained periods of time, approximately 8-10 hours a day
