D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Underwriter Support Specialist-DHITIC. The right candidate will work hand in hand with DHITIC’s underwriting team and will serve as a liaison, regarding title insurance matters, to multiple levels of company leadership. The right candidate will manage claims and assist with risk analysis, legal research, and agent communication. 

This role offers the opportunity to work remotely
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Respond in a timely manner to underwriting inquiries from agents 
  • Participate in the title underwriting review process 
  • Research title insurance laws nationwide 
  • Administer and manage title insurance claims from commencement to conclusion 
  • Research and update new laws/statute/regulations that could affect the risk of the company 
  • Support agency with recruitment process and retention of agents
  • Participate on cross-functional teams 
  • Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company 
  • Assist in preparing bulletins, alerts, and other agent communications
  • Participate in internal and external legal team discussions
  • Create and maintain reporting to support initiatives
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Ability to work overtime
  • Ability to travel overnight

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year university or college
  • Ability to work in an unsupervised, but collaborative environment 
  • Proficiency with MS Office, e-mail, and internet/legal research 
  • Ability to work as a team alongside the DHITIC underwriting team

  • Proficiency with MS Office and email

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior legal assistant and/or paralegal experience of 2 or more years preferred, but not required 
  • Paralegal certification preferred, but not required 
  • Title insurance claims experience preferred, but not required
