We are currently seeking a AWS Serverless Developer - Brokerage / Financial Services - Hybrid/Onsite to join our team in Charlotte, North Carolina (US-NC), United States (US).
AWS Serverless Developer - Brokerage / Financial Services
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced AWS Serverless Developer with strong hands-on expertise designing and developing cloud-native, serverless, and event-driven applications.
Brokerage, clearing, or wealth management experience is required. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of financial services technology environments, including experience supporting brokerage, clearing, retirement, investment, or wealth-management back-office systems.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience with AWS serverless technologies, RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, distributed systems, batch processing, and workflow orchestration, along with strong programming skills in Scala, Rust, and/or Python.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain scalable serverless applications using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, Kinesis, and Step Functions.
  • Develop high-quality, scalable, maintainable software using Scala, Rust, and/or Python.
  • Design, develop, consume, and support RESTful APIs for brokerage and financial services applications.
  • Develop API integration solutions supporting request/response processing, authentication and authorization, error handling, exception management, performance, and resiliency.
  • Design and implement event-driven and asynchronous processing using EventBridge, SQS, SNS, Kinesis, and Lambda.
  • Develop and support batch and file-processing solutions, including scheduled processing, file ingestion, file generation, and S3-based processing.
  • Design and develop large-volume data processing solutions with appropriate error handling, reconciliation, processing controls, and restart/recovery mechanisms.
  • Design and implement AWS Step Functions workflows to orchestrate complex, multi-step business and technical processes.
  • Develop Lambda-based workflows incorporating conditional processing, branching, retries, timeout management, and failure recovery.
  • Integrate APIs, batch processes, event-driven services, messaging systems, and downstream applications across complex enterprise environments.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot serverless applications using AWS CloudWatch logs, metrics, and monitoring tools.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve production issues across APIs, Lambda functions, messaging services, workflows, and downstream integrations.
  • Develop solutions that are scalable, highly available, resilient, secure, and optimized for performance.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, business analysts, product owners, DevOps teams, and other technology stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical design sessions, sprint planning, backlog refinement, defect triage, deployments, and production support.
  • Follow Agile/Scrum development practices and contribute to continuous improvement of development and support processes.

Required Qualifications
Financial Services / Domain Experience
  • 5+ years of software development experience, preferably within a brokerage or financial services environment.
  • 5+ years of strong brokerage, clearing, wealth management, or financial services domain experience is required.
  • Experience with brokerage, clearing, retirement, investment, or wealth-management back-office systems is highly preferred.

AWS / Serverless Development
  • 5+ years of hands-on AWS cloud development experience, with a strong focus on serverless technologies.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and developing solutions using:
    • AWS Lambda
    • API Gateway
    • DynamoDB
    • S3
    • EventBridge
    • SQS
    • SNS
    • Kinesis
    • Step Functions
  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing serverless applications and distributed cloud solutions.
  • Strong experience developing Lambda-based workflows with conditional branching, retries, timeouts, error handling, and failure recovery.
  • 3+ years of experience developing AWS Step Functions workflows or similar workflow orchestration solutions.

Programming
  • 3+ years of hands-on programming experience using one or more of the following:
    • Scala
    • Rust
    • Python
  • Strong understanding of software development principles, design patterns, maintainability, scalability, and performance.

APIs & Integration
  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and enterprise API integrations.
  • Strong experience with API authentication and authorization, error handling, exception management, performance, resiliency, and secure service-to-service communication.
  • 5+ years of experience integrating APIs, messaging systems, batch processes, and downstream enterprise applications.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, asynchronous processing, messaging patterns, and event-driven architecture.

Event-Driven & Data Processing
  • 5+ years of experience developing event-driven and asynchronous applications using EventBridge, SQS, SNS, Kinesis, Lambda, or similar technologies.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and supporting batch and file-processing solutions, including:
    • Scheduled processing
    • S3 file ingestion and processing
    • Large-volume data processing
    • File generation
    • Reconciliation
    • Processing controls
    • Restart and recovery mechanisms
  • Strong understanding of reliable data processing, failure handling, reconciliation, and recovery in distributed environments.

Production Support & Troubleshooting
  • 5+ years of experience troubleshooting production issues using CloudWatch logs, monitoring tools, and application diagnostics.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills across cloud services, APIs, middleware, messaging systems, and distributed applications.
  • Ability to trace and troubleshoot issues across multiple services and downstream systems.

Security, DevOps & Infrastructure
  • Experience with AWS security concepts, including IAM, authentication, authorization, encryption, and secure service-to-service communication.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices for AWS applications.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation is preferred.

Professional Experience
  • 5+ years of experience working independently, managing multiple priorities, and delivering work within project timelines.
  • 5+ years of experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with cross-functional technology and business teams.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across architecture, development, business, DevOps, and product teams.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Pay Transparency
Where required by law, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting pay range for this remote role is $96,800-$121,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate's actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications.
This position is eligible for company benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance with an employer contribution, flexible spending or health savings account, life and AD&D insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, paid time off, employee assistance, participation in a 401k program with company match, and additional voluntary or legally-required benefits.
