What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Rust Crypto Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Rust Crypto Engineer, you need strong proficiency in Rust programming, a solid foundation in cryptography concepts, and experience with secure software development. Familiarity with cryptographic libraries (like RustCrypto), version control systems (such as Git), and relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are often valuable. Meticulous attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective collaboration skills help ensure robust, secure code and successful teamwork. These skills are critical for developing reliable cryptographic solutions that protect sensitive data and maintain system integrity.

How does a Rust Crypto developer typically collaborate with security and blockchain teams in a project?

As a Rust Crypto developer, you’ll often work closely with both security experts and blockchain engineers to ensure cryptographic protocols are implemented securely and efficiently. Job description

Job Title

This is a remote position but you must reside in Saint Louis, MO and be available for quarterly travel to New York.

Company Overview

We're startup junkies, former founders, and x-FAANG engineers, and we're building an AI-notetaker + task management system for financial advisors. We're an early startup, but we're live with our first enterprise customer and are looking for help getting the next two customers launched and advancing our AI roadmap.

Team Member Overview

Matt was going to be a philosophy professor but got into tech instead. He's built mobile apps and web apps, worked on a data science team, and founded a VC-backed startup. Was hired as the 5th engineer at Avantos. Favorite movie: The Prestige. (Generally likes anything Christopher Nolan does.)

Tristan most recently worked a crypto startup. Before that, Amazon. x-Rust-user-group organizer. Outside of work, he spends time enjoying the great outdoors and traveling to different places. Favorite movie: Cars 3. (This might be a joke. We're not sure.)

Rishabh was working on Bedrock at AWS but wanted to get some startup experience, so he jumped ship and joined Avantos in the Summer of 2025. Favorite movie: The Grand Budapest Hotel
