Job description

Markon is seeking a Software Engineer Level 3 to support the development of modern, cloud-based, microservices-driven applications for the Fort Meade Customer. This role spans full stack development, with a focus on building scalable frontend interfaces and high-performance backend services. The engineer will work across distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and data-driven platforms to deliver resilient, mission-focused solutions. Responsibilities * Develop and maintain full stack applications using modern frontend and backend technologies
* Build responsive user interfaces using JavaScript, React, and JSX (with exposure to TypeScript)
* Design and implement backend services using Node.js, Python, and Rust for high-performance components
* Develop and deploy microservices architectures using Kubernetes and Helm
* Implement service mesh, load balancing, and multi-site deployment strategies
* Support cloud migration efforts and optimize cloud-based system performance
* Integrate messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other message fabrics
* Utilize infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Salt) for deployment and automation
* Develop and maintain real-time data processing using WebSockets and streaming technologies
* Implement testing frameworks (e.g., Jest) to ensure code quality and reliability
* Monitor system performance using tools such as Grafana and InfluxDB
* Work with a variety of data stores including MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, and Neo4j
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to system architecture decisions Qualifications Required Qualifications * Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer. * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
* 12+ years of software engineering experience
* Strong experience with frontend development using JavaScript and React/JSX
* Experience with backend development using Node.js, Python, and/or Rust
* Experience designing and deploying microservices architectures
* Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
* Familiarity with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and cloud migration strategies
* Experience with distributed systems, messaging frameworks, and real-time data processing
* Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability tools (e.g., Grafana)
* Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases
* Familiarity with big data and data flow tools such as NiFi
* Understanding of security labeling and compliance standards (e.g., CAM, LAC, COI)
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team Salary Range USD $215,000.00 - USD $225,000.00 /Yr.
