Job Summary:
The UW DFMCH Rural Family Medicine Obstetrics (FMOB) fellowship is a 24-month fellowship that provides needed surgical training and high-riskobstetrical experience for family physicians who plan to care for a rural population. The fellowship will also provide an opportunity for family physicians to enhance their clinical, teaching, scholarly, and leadership skills in obstetrics.
This position will be research, clinical care, and teaching. There will be 80% academic time, and 20% for clinical care. Clinical care will include patient careat a Family Medicine Clinic, as well as precepting residents and other learners in the clinical setting. May also participate in faculty call and coverage of the family practice services, if appropriate.
This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.
Terminal, 12 month appointment (with anticipated additional 12 months as determined by program)
This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH) at the University of Wisconsin is a leading clinical department within the School of Medicine and Public Health. DFMCH is dedicated to advancing patient care, education, and research. Our 18 clinics provide primary care to more than 170,000 patients, yielding over 375,000 patient visits annually. Compensation:
The starting salary for the position is $80,837 annually but will align with approved PGY stipend rates
Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of a US Family Medicine residency. You may apply while completing your final year of residency.
  • WI medical license by the start date of the position.
  • Board-certified or board eligible in Family Medicine by the start date of the position.

Education:
  • MD or DO, or equivalent required

One must be from your current program director (or current supervisor if in practice). All applicants will be notified once the search concludes and a candidate is selected.
University sponsorship is not available for this position, including transfers of sponsorship and TN visas. The selected applicant will be responsible for ensuring their continuous eligibility to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, a foreign national authorized to work in the United States without the need of an employer sponsorship) on or before the effective date of appointment. This position is currently scheduled to end 24 months from the start date and will require eligibility to work for the full duration of the appointment. If you are selected for this position, you must provide proof of work authorization and eligibility to work.
The department will not be able to support a request for a J-1 waiver. If you choose to pursue a waiver and apply for our position, neither the UW nor UWMF will reimburse you for your legal or waiver fees.
