Job description

Position Summary:

 

The Transportation Supervisor plays a key role in overseeing the daily transportation operations of our multi-temperature, technology-driven food service distribution center. This position is responsible for managing the drivers and fleet, ensuring compliance with all regulations, and actively supporting our team of drivers and operations staff to deliver exceptional service to our clients.

Main Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Process payroll and time sheets for all drivers, operations assistants, Transportation Clerks, and leads in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage driver dispatch schedules and optimize delivery routes to ensure efficient operations.
  • Oversee Hours of Service (HOS) compliance by collaborating with the Master Scheduler to assess client routing feasibility and address any issues.
  • Plan manpower and schedule equipment effectively to meet operational requirements.
  • Manage fleet wash services to maintain cleanliness and operational standards.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the yard and fleet, ensuring safety, repairs, cleanliness, and compliance with regulations.
  • Execute company and Department of Transportation (DOT) process to achieve 100% compliance.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of collisions and injury incidents, assess preventability, and recommend actions to mitigate future occurrences.
  • Investigate and address instances of driver non-compliance with company policies; conduct fact-finding investigations, assess culpability, and issue disciplinary measures where necessary.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the daily operating plan, including equipment maintenance and driver schedules, to meet or exceed delivery expectations.

 Required Skills and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (2-4 years of related supervisory experience).
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work any shift and schedule due to our 24/7 operational requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to creatively solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • This position must pass post-offer background check and drug test.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in food distribution is a plus.
  • Class 9 license is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Kronos or similar time management software is a plus.
