Your Opportunity
The role of Senior Project Manager (Civil) is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of our strong and collaborative team of industry leading professionals, working both independently and together on projects of various sizes and complexities. This individual will be responsible for managing the relationships with some of our most valued developer clients, providing exceptional customer service.
In this role, you will provide operational, technical and people leadership to the Community Development team, while managing continued growth and success in Texas. This position can be located in Austin, San Antonio, Houston or Plano, TX. You will play a pivotal role in expanding our existing client and project base to position Stantec to acquire new business. We will rely on your ability to energize and inspire others to promote an environment for success within the team, and to champion new ideas while holding yourself and others to high standards of accountability that ensure timely project delivery, resource efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. At the project level, you will be expected to apply your mature knowledge of the development market to manage proposed community development projects to ensure successful delivery, resource efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate business development efforts, including market research, client relationships, developing leads, and securing contracts
  • Prepare project proposals and attend pre- and post-proposals meetings/interviews
  • Establish, nurture and support the cross-discipline project design processes, communication and best practices, in collaboration with local and BC leadership
  • Attract, grow, and retain high-quality staff, in collaboration with HR Business Partner, local and BC leadership
  • Coach and develop team members to achieve high standards in meeting organizational goals
  • Liaise with clients, agencies and others to obtain and determine project requirements, permits, and approvals.
  • Ensure that client needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Lead and be responsible for the preparation of Engineering drawings (residential, industrial and commercial), cost estimates, and preliminary and final reports. This may include technical review and professional stamping of engineering design drawings. It also includes the preparation of construction specifications and tender documents.
  • Perform project management duties on major projects, including client and sub-consultant coordination; making presentations to planning commissions, zoning boards, municipal officials and public agencies; attending client meeting; and visiting job sites
  • Maintain project budgets, prepare estimates, establish cost controls and maintain project schedules and quality control; prepare monthly billing
  • Organize and supervise the work of a technical team with regards to the planning, design, processing and construction support of civil engineering projects; provide direction to guide projects to successful completion
  • Provide internal peer review of designs by other land development engineers/technologists.
  • Coordinate designs with stormwater management engineers and incorporate stormwater designs into land development drawings.
  • Ensure projects meet applicable specifications and standards as per the governing municipality and adhere to Stantec's QA/QC program.
  • Be the main client contact on the project(s).
  • Collaborate with local area leadership, including Project Managers, to ensure the office meets its operation goals and adheres to Stantec's PM framework

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Must have a thorough understanding of residential, industrial and commercial development (including site grading, sanitary and storm sewer servicing, water servicing, shallow utility coordination, road and parking design) in the Texas area.
  • Must be a self-motivated individual possessing strong English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must exhibit attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be able to coordinate engineering requirements with planning and landscape architecture requirements.
  • Must work well in a team environment and have a collaborative approach.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D is an asset.
  • Strong ability to develop business and promote business relationships
  • Strong project planning and delivery experience
  • Must have valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Able to travel within the region.

Education and Experience
  • BS. Civil Engineering
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Texas
  • Minimum of 10 years of project management experience in Texas, including ability to organize and supervise the work of other engineers, designers and sub-consultants, related to residential, industrial and commercial development projects.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time, as well as working in the field. Fieldwork may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
