Job description

This is a office based position in either Shreveport or Atlanta.


Purpose/Job Function:

The Logistics Specialist is responsible for building and maintaining customer relationships and coordinating day-to-day tasks to meet client expectations. They effectively provide support for billing, account set up, order management life cycle and other operational tasks. In addition, this role is responsible for upholding our core values: Ethics, Engagement, and Excellence.

Essential Functions:

  • Communicate with client, carrier and internal teams to manage and resolve billing and/or rate issues
  • Manage aspects of account setup including generating web users, EDI, BOL and carrier account numbers
  • Responsible for client training across AFS platforms
  • Responsible for daily execution of transportation needs, including tracking and scheduling shipments, communicating status updates with internal team and clients
  • Manage and resolve daily carrier service issues, failures and delays
  • Weekly engagement with solutions and IT for systematic updates and improvements
  • Perform critical customer service functions, which include daily interface with assigned clients, order building, expediting, load tendering to LTL and TL incumbent carriers and event exception management
  • Establish strong relationships with clients, carriers and internal team members
  • Communicate with client, carrier and internal teams to manage and resolve billing and/or rate issues
  • Run and analyze reports supporting the account such as: invoice reconciliations, savings, client fees, carrier service reports, etc.
  • Identify opportunities and offer recommendations to implement solutions and improve cost efficiency by analyzing clientโ€™s shipment data
  • Business reviews and QBR prep/presentations

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office Software: Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing using professional etiquette
  • Must have strong organizational and โ€œfollow-upโ€ skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team
  • Ability to provide sound problem solving
  • Ability to pay excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal guidance
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting written material and quantitative data to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on that data

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of two yearsโ€™ experience in transportation industry
  • Minimum of one yearโ€™s experience in a customer service or related environment

Working Conditions: This position will be sitting in front of a computer for long hours at a time and may cause eye irritation or even muscle strain.

This position does not require any strenuous or physical activity.

Customary Work Hours: 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. Position may require extended hours including evenings and weekends for special events.
