$70000 - $78500 / year
Position Summary
Supports Superintendent during all phases of construction projects, including coordinating workers, materials, and equipment, supervising sub-contractors and staff, ensuring that specifications are being followed, and that work is proceeding on schedule and within budget.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  • Supervises and monitors work performance and productivity of subcontractors and craft workers to ensure project rules, procedures, and safety requirements are followed.
  • Coordinates and supervises the scheduling and activities for craft workers.
  • Ensures contractors are conforming to project specifications, codes, procedures, rules, and safety requirements.
  • Performs in-depth review of all contract documents to become familiar with all details, notes, and requirements.
  • Monitors job schedules and coordinates contractors' work, suppliers' deliveries and equipment need.
  • Monitors quality standards of all jobs, including contractor performance, and ensures that all quality assurance and company standards are being met.
  • Ensures that inspections are scheduled as appropriate.
  • Provides assistance in resolving day-to-day construction problems encountered.
  • Acts as a liaison between field engineering and crafts to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications.
  • Assists in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, material quantities, and equipment requirements.
  • Advises superintendents and/or project management of potential problems, work interference, and schedule difficulties; assists in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.
  • Assists with obtaining required permits and licenses.
  • Tracks schedules and associated costs to achieve completion of project on time and within budget.
  • Monitors job safety and safety training; enforces safety programs and OSHA Standards.
  • Acts as liaison among owners, inspectors, staff and subcontractors.
  • Assists with preparation of written reports and/or updates (internal and external) for management, client, and project team, to ensure a clear understanding of project status.
  • Prepares and manages list of inspections; assists with preparation and management of project closeout requirements.
  • Administers financial tracking systems to monitor project costs and estimates.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years of construction management experience including a thorough knowledge of construction industry practices, methods, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of basic project controls (cost, schedule, change management, etc.), material management, contract management, subcontract management, safety, and quality
  • Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend drawings and specifications
  • Strong supervisory and resource coordination skills.
  • Track record of successfully executing projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong client relations, influencing skills and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Frequently works outdoors at construction sites and occasionally works indoors.
  • Frequently stands and walks, and may climb, balance, stoop, or crouch while negotiating work areas under construction.
  • Sits, walks, reads, writes, and uses a keyboard.
  • May be exposed to harsh weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather.
  • May be exposed to loud noise.
