POSITION SUMMARY

Roof Technology Partners (RTP) is a commercial roofing contractor and portfolio company of Skybound Service Partners (SSP). The Commercial Roofing Estimator is responsible for producing accurate, competitive, and profitable estimates across all RTP branch locations, including Texas, Georgia, Alabama, and additional markets as the business grows. Based in Dallas or Houston, this role partners closely with branch sales personnel, operations managers, and the VP of Sales & Marketing to ensure every qualified opportunity is estimated on time and in alignment with RTP's cost, quality, and margin standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Estimating & Bid Preparation

  • Produce complete, accurate estimates in accordance with RTP's cost and profit guidelines across all branch markets
  • Perform material takeoffs from plans and specifications; compile full estimates from takeoffs and subcontractor/supplier quotes
  • Review project documents to identify insurance, bonding, overhead, and scope requirements prior to bid
  • Apply correct overhead and profit factors to arrive at final proposed project cost
  • Finalize and submit bids on time; attend pre-bid meetings and bid openings as needed
  • Double-check all calculations prior to submission and review with VP Sales & Marketing as required

Multi-Branch Market Coverage

  • Support estimating needs across all RTP branch locations (TX, GA, AL, and others as applicable)
  • Maintain awareness of announced and proposed projects across markets; communicate qualified opportunities to the appropriate branch sales personnel
  • Maintain an active log of all estimates including bid amounts, submission dates, win/loss outcomes, and key deadlines
  • Analyze bid results and use win/loss data to refine competitive strategy and improve hit rate
  • Monitor competitor activity and pricing trends across markets to inform bid positioning

Customer & Vendor Relations

  • Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, owners, and customers across all served markets
  • Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain best-value quotes consistent with RTP quality standards
  • Follow up with customers after bid submission and communicate outcomes internally
  • Treat all supplier pricing as strictly confidential

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor job cost reports on completed projects to verify estimate accuracy and document recurring gaps
  • Continuously refine estimating methods, software configurations, and assumptions
  • Identify value engineering opportunities on all bids and present alternatives to customers
  • Ensure a clean handoff of won jobs to the appropriate Operations Manager
  • Assist VP Sales & Marketing with budget assumptions and annual sales goal planning

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Ability to read plans and specifications, perform quantity takeoffs, and use Excel to generate cost and profit analysis
  • 2+ years of commercial roofing estimating experience with a company generating $3M+ in annual revenue
  • Track record of producing winning, profitable estimates
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong math skills; ability to perform and verify cost calculations with precision
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred

  • Experience estimating across multiple geographic markets or branch locations
  • Familiarity with Procore or similar construction project management platforms
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; relevant experience may substitute at leadership's discretion
  • Good knowledge of commercial roofing systems, materials, and installation methods
