Job description

About Boston Legacy FC
Boston Legacy FC (the "Club") is Boston's professional women's soccer team, competing in the National Women's Soccer League since our inaugural 2026 season. We are dedicated to building a championship-caliber organization on and off the pitch. We are passionate about advancing women's sports, investing in our local community, and redefining the future of professional soccer. As a club with a big vision, we're building something extraordinary from the ground up and looking for entrepreneurial team members who want to help shape what comes next.
The Role
The RTP Specialist will collaborate daily with the club's medical and performance team to guide injured athletes through structured reconditioning programs back to full performance. This includes the design and delivery of individualized return-to-play plans, on-pitch reconditioning sessions, speed-development drills, and position-specific technical work to reintegrate athletes into the demands of the game.
When not engaged in RTP duties, the specialist will assist the Strength & Conditioning Coach with team lifts by coaching proper technique, delivering individualized programming to healthy athletes, and supporting overall physical development initiatives across the squad.
This position requires a communicative, adaptable professional who thrives in an interdisciplinary environment and is passionate about advancing women's soccer performance. The ideal candidate will have played soccer at the collegiate level at minimum and will possess in-depth knowledge of positional requirements and game actions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with athletic trainers, physical therapists, and performance staff to design and execute individualized RTP plans for injured athletes.
  • Design weekly periodization plans that support proper reconditioning as athletes progress through the RTP process.
  • Plan, deliver, and progress structured on-pitch reconditioning sessions focused on movement quality, technical sharpness, and soccer-specific physical demands.
  • Coach athletes through movement efficiency drills, acceleration and deceleration patterns, change of direction, and conditioning progressions.
  • Lead or support strength training sessions for rehabbing athletes, progressing loads and complexity in alignment with RTP timelines.
  • Track RTP milestones and communicate athlete status consistently with the wider performance and coaching staff.
  • Utilize performance technology such as GPS, isometric testing, and force plates to guide decision-making throughout the RTP continuum.
  • Assist the Strength & Conditioning Coach during team lifts by coaching proper technique, reinforcing standards, and motivating players.
  • Help set up, supervise, and monitor strength sessions, warm-ups, mobility work, and activation routines.
  • Contribute to a positive, unified high-performance environment with open communication across medical, performance, coaching, and sports science departments.
  • Participate in case discussions, planning meetings, and ongoing education within the performance staff.
  • Support the club's holistic approach, including integration with nutrition, sports psychology, and performance science resources.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Strength & Conditioning, Sports Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of S&C or RTP experience in a high-performance sport environment (professional, collegiate, national team, or elite academy).
  • Experience designing and delivering return-to-play progressions, including on-field reconditioning and strength training.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach movement quality and technique for female soccer athletes.
  • Experience within professional women's soccer or another field-based team sport.
  • Certifications such as CSCS, CPSS, or equivalent are desired.
  • Experience with GPS, force plates, or performance monitoring technologies.
  • Experience playing competitive soccer at either the collegiate or professional level

At Boston Legacy FC, we believe taking care of our team off the pitch is what allows us to compete at the highest level on it. Our benefits and culture reflect that commitment:
  • Competitive Compensation - salary commensurate with experience, qualifications, and market.
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage - medical, dental, and vision plans for employees and eligible dependents, plus mental health support.
  • Financial Future - 401(k) plan with employer match to help you invest in what's next.
  • Time to Recharge - paid time off, sick leave, and recognized holidays.
  • Hybrid Work Schedule - our team operates across Massachusetts and Rhode Island, with home matches and training based in the region. Weekend and evening availability is required for matchdays, events, and travel as requested, and some roles may require additional on-site presence based on function.
  • Behind-the-Scenes Access - experience match days, events, and club moments as an essential member of the team building Boston's professional women's soccer club from day one.
  • A Founding Team Culture - join a tight-knit, mission-driven group where every voice matters, ideas move fast, and the work you do leaves a lasting mark on the club, the league, and the city.

Why Join Us?
You'll be part of a founding team creating a legacy - literally. Boston Legacy FC is more than a soccer club; it's a movement. We offer a unique opportunity to shape the future of a professional sports organization in one of the most passionate sports markets in the world.
