Job description

Copper River Technologies is seeking experienced Journeyman Heavy Diesel Equipment Mechanics to support maintenance operations for NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic facilities in Virginia. This position supports the Navy's 3M Maintenance Program and is responsible for independently performing preventative and corrective maintenance on a wide range of heavy-duty vehicles, construction equipment, generators, and support systems in a mission-driven environment.

The ideal candidate will possess strong troubleshooting and repair experience involving diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy construction equipment while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on heavy and light vehicles and equipment in accordance with Navy 3M Maintenance Program requirements
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components
  • Conduct routine maintenance services including oil changes, fluid replacements, brake repairs, tire repair/replacement, and electrical troubleshooting
  • Inspect, test, and repair heavy tracked and wheeled construction equipment
  • Complete and maintain accurate maintenance documentation and 3M work reports
  • Research and identify required repair parts and provide ordering information to Government personnel
  • Ensure all repairs meet quality standards with minimal rework required
  • Follow all safety, environmental, lockout/tagout, and PPE requirements
  • Support maintenance scheduling, technical evaluations, and project coordination activities
  • Coordinate effectively with Government personnel, project managers, and team members
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in a clean and safe condition
  • Perform work both indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions
  • Mechanics may support maintenance and repair of equipment including:
    • HMMWVs (Humvees)
    • MTVRs (Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacements)
    • Bulldozers
    • Front-end loaders
    • Graders
    • KALMAR Rough Terrain Cargo Handlers (RTCH)
    • Forklifts
    • Diesel generators and light plants
    • Buses
    • Pickup trucks, vans, and SUVs
    • Material handling and construction equipment

Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Clearance:
    • Ability to obtain/maintain required access credentials as needed
  • Education and Certifications:
    • Ability to successfully complete Navy 3M Maintenance Program training
    • Valid driver's license required
  • Required Experience:
    • Journeyman-level experience as a Heavy Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic
    • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and gasoline-powered equipment
    • Experience working on heavy tracked and wheeled construction equipment
  • Required Skill and Competencies
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer systems
    • Strong understanding of safety and environmental compliance procedures
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Military vehicle maintenance experience
    • Experience supporting Government or Department of Defense contracts
    • Familiarity with maintenance documentation systems
    • Experience ordering parts and materials through Government systems
