Volunteer Coordinator - AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP (Full-Time)

Salary: $42,099.20 - $55,000 annually based on years of experience.

Samaritan is seeking a compassionate and organized AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Volunteer Coordinator to support volunteer engagement across Samaritan’s five New Jersey service counties. This state grant-funded position is responsible for recruiting, training, supervising, assigning, supporting, and retaining volunteers who serve in meaningful, nonclinical roles that strengthen connection, comfort, and community support for patients, families, caregivers, older adults, and individuals experiencing grief.

What You'll Do:

  • Recruit, orient, train, supervise, and retain AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP volunteers age 55 and older.
  • Coordinate volunteer assignments for patients and families in homes, facilities, and Samaritan inpatient centers.
  • Support volunteer companionship and social connection programs for older adults, patients, caregivers, and community members.
  • Assist with caregiver check-ins, friendly visits, resource sharing, and related follow-up activities.
  • Support bereavement and grief outreach by helping match trained volunteers with appropriate nonclinical support opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records, hours, assignments, outcomes, and grant-related documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with volunteers, office staff, interdisciplinary team members, and community partners.
  • Evaluate volunteer performance, provide feedback, and support ongoing volunteer engagement and compliance.
  • Assist with volunteer education days, in-services, recognition events, outreach activities, and retention efforts.
  • Participate in meetings, reporting activities, and other duties that support program and grant success.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; experience in volunteer coordination or community-based service preferred.
  • One to three years of directly relevant experience and/or experience in a variety of volunteer roles preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to work tactfully and professionally with volunteers, staff, patients, families, caregivers, and community partners.
  • Computer literacy required; database experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven environment.
