Job Title: Project Manager / Traffic Engineer 
Location: Indiana (Indianapolis, Lafayette, Merrillville, Evansville, Plainfield, Jeffersonville, or Fort Wayne)
Duration: Full Time

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer / Project Manager to lead and manage a wide range of traffic engineering projects across Indiana. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in traffic forecasting, traffic analysis, roadway design, traffic signal design, project management, and client relationship management. This role requires experience managing Federal Aid, INDOT, and local transportation projects while providing technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring high-quality project delivery from planning through construction support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing project updates and leading communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform traffic forecasting, operational analysis, and traffic modeling using Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, and SIDRA.
  • Manage traffic engineering projects for Federal Aid, INDOT, and local agencies from project initiation through post-letting services.
  • Develop and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Prepare and review Traffic Impact Studies, Safety Analysis Reports, Capacity & Operations Reports, and Engineer''''s Reports.
  • Perform Traffic Signal Design, Lighting Design, and Signage Design for transportation projects.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, sub-consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Review and approve engineering calculations, technical documents, and design deliverables.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers while supporting company mentoring initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures, safety standards, and project reporting requirements.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor''''s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in traffic engineering, traffic forecasting, traffic operations, safety analysis, and transportation design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of Indiana, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months.
  • Strong experience with Traffic Impact Studies, Safety Studies, Capacity Analysis, Signal Warrant Analysis, and Traffic Modeling.
  • Experience working on Federal Aid, INDOT, and local transportation projects.
  • Proficiency with Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, SIDRA, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation.
  • Strong experience in Traffic Signal Design, Signage Design, and Lighting Design.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, communication, and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification, or willingness to obtain within 2 years.
  • Road Safety Professional (RSP) certification (any level).
  • Experience with traffic data collection, access management plans, thoroughfare plans, and transportation planning studies.
  • Experience mentoring engineering staff and leading multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong knowledge of Indiana transportation standards and INDOT requirements.
