RSi is looking to fill a Material Expediter position to support our NAS A customer on the Marshall Engineering Technicians and Trades Support contract (METTS). This position is responsible for preparing and arranging materials and products in bulk and non-bulk forms for distribution or storage; moving and loading or unloading equipment, materials, and products; operating or tending pipelines pumps and valves to transfer liquids; driving forklifts and related material-handling machinery and equipment; and using scoops, hand trucks, and wheelbarrows to load and move materials.

Summary of duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Locating and moving materials and parts between work areas of plant to expedite processing of goods using cart or hand truck
  • Using pre-determined schedules and priorities and keeping related records in regard to goods
  • Review production schedules inventory reports and work orders to determine types, quantities, and availability of required material and priorities of customer orders
  • Confer with department supervisors to determine materials overdue and to inform them of location, availability, and condition of materials 
  • Record quantity and type of materials distributed and on hand 
  • Direct Power-Truck Operator or Material Handling Laborer to expedite movement of materials between storage and production areas
  • Compare work ticket specifications with material at work stations to verify appropriateness of material in use
  • Prepare worker production records and timecards
  • Update and maintain inventory records using computer terminal

Required Minimum Education/Experience/Certifications: 

  • Experience with property/inventory management
  • Forklift operations

Preferred Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/IT Skills/Certifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Previous experience with NASA

Work Environment: 

  • Environmentally controlled, heated, and cooled shop area subject to machinery noise
  • Laboratory, test environments, test stands, possible confined spaces
  • Occasional outdoor work

Physical Environment/Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation): 

  • Ability to lift up to twenty pounds on an occasional basis
  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • May require walking, bending, climbing stairs, stooping, lifting, and navigating shop/machine work areas
  • Must be able to bend, stoop or lift occasionally with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • All positions supporting the METTS III contract are contingent upon successful completion of NASA medical screenings at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter. The need for these screenings is determined based on the outcomes of the Safety, Health, and Environmental Job Assessment Questionnaire.

Other:

  • This position may require occasional overtime and may include second or third shift support for 24/7 onsite or on-call support based on customer needs and contract requirements.
  • All positions supporting the METTS III contract are contingent upon successful completion of NASA medical screenings at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter. The need for these screenings is determined based on the outcomes of the Safety, Health, and Environmental Job Assessment Questionnaire.
  • Must meet eligibility for a Public Trust background investigation for government issues credentials and IT access/applicants must be able to pass a security background check per Redstone Arsenal/MSFC requirements. You will be required to provide two (2) forms of Federal I9 documents. You will be required to provide a REAL ID compliant identification to gain access to RSA and MSFC. Your name must match on both forms of ID, be original (no copies/digital), and be unexpired.
