Job description

A leading healthcare organization in Southwest Florida is seeking a full-time Respiratory Therapist Supervisor to support respiratory care operations within a large acute care hospital setting. This is a night shift leadership opportunity for an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist who enjoys mentoring teams, supporting department operations, and staying connected to bedside respiratory care when needed. Job Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Support daily operations of the Respiratory Care department in collaboration with department leadership.
  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop respiratory therapy staff.
  • Assist with hiring, orientation, training, counseling, and performance feedback.
  • Participate in competency evaluations and annual reviews for direct staff.
  • Help recommend and implement department policies, procedures, and workflow improvements.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance needs, supplies, payroll, and department resources.
  • Support quality control, performance improvement, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Participate in interviews and hiring decisions for new team members.
  • Delegate daily assignments and serve as a department representative on committees when needed.
  • Function as a Lead or bedside Respiratory Therapist when appropriate.
  • Serve as department leader or representative in the absence of the director.


Respiratory Care Environment

The respiratory care team provides services across acute care and critical care units, supporting patients with acute and chronic pulmonary conditions. Services may include ventilator management, airway support, pulmonary rehabilitation, asthma and COPD education, pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopies, thoracentesis, robotic-assisted bronchoscopy support, lung nodule clinic collaboration, and post-discharge pulmonary education.

This is a strong fit for a respiratory leader who is comfortable in a high-acuity hospital setting and enjoys both operational leadership and hands-on clinical collaboration.


Schedule

  • Full-time position.
  • Night shift.
  • Typical hours: 6:00 PM to 4:00 AM.
  • Flexible scheduling options.
  • Monday-Friday or Monday-Thursday schedule may be available.


Compensation

Respiratory Therapy Supervisor:

  • $34.97-$45.46/hour
  • Plus $6.00/hour night shift differential

Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, Critical Care:

  • $38.48-$50.01/hour
  • Plus $6.00/hour night shift differential


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical respiratory therapy experience, including intensive care/critical care areas.
  • Active Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist license.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association required.
  • ACLS, PALS, and NRP required as appropriate to job function and patient population served.
  • For Critical Care Supervisor consideration: RRT-ACCS credential required.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to mentor respiratory therapy staff.
  • Strong work ethic, communication skills, analytical thinking, and critical thinking.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
