A Brief Overview
The Routing Planner is responsible for ensuring that every delivery created from a customer's purchase order is delivered to the customer on time according to the customer's exact specifications. This includes performing shipment expedites, re-routes, returns, and track and trace. In addition, the incumbent will interface with and provide customer service support to Account Managers, Finance, and Customers related to transportation, brokerage, customs, and logistics services provided by the organization. Routing Planner also provides administrative support to compliance department by researching operational causes of shipment issues, failures, and delays; especially those which result in chargebacks, as well as related customer complaints. The Routing Planner will also be knowledgeable of all company operations, warehouse and transportation systems, shipping administrative duties, and related support as well as all processes and procedures related to the daily operations of the business.
Leadership Responsibilities
  • This position does not have people leadership responsibilities.

What You'll Do
  • Conduct daily transportation planning of shipments
  • Interface and work with DC Operations to schedule and plan related activities regarding outbound shipments. Conducts shipping execution support duties as required. This includes interacting with carriers and drivers as necessary. Provides support to the import/export clerk as required.
  • Provide customer service support to account teams, other internal departments, and customers as required to address service requests, issues, freight rate quotes, and other inquiries.
  • Monitor the bucket daily for deliveries that are routed PRT (orders shipping outside of the continental US) or RRG (call for routing) for customers that are not flagged as default shipping accounts and determine the correct routing, then revising the deliveries in WM. Ensuring assigned account customer routing guides are up-to-date and the company is in accordance with the customer's routing instructions to avoid chargebacks.
  • Provide assistance to our customers in tracking, tracing, retrieving, and obtaining delivery receipts or troubleshooting delivery issues.
  • Provides support to the receiving department regarding inbound shipments as well as provides relevant communication to our vendors, carriers, procurement and receiving departments as necessary.
  • Ensures that manual billing is completed by the end of each day.
  • Correcting manifest exceptions on a daily basis
  • Review, investigate, and assist in resolving chargebacks received from the compliance department that are related to assigned accounts. As possible, provide supporting documentation to aid in recovery/resolution to the compliance department.

What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Logistics or transportation planning or equivalent combination of training, education and experience
  • 1-2 years of logistics experience required
  • 2-3 years of experience in client account management preferred
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SAP
