Job description

Opportunity Overview

The HQ Network team is responsible for the design, implementation, lifecycle management, and operational support of Edward Jones' critical network infrastructure. Our team provides highly available, high-performing network services that support clients, Financial Advisors, and home office personnel across campus, data center, and hybrid cloud environments.
We are seeking an experienced Engineer who can provide technical leadership, drive platform modernization efforts, and contribute to the stability, scalability, and automation of our network backbone infrastructure.
What You’ll Do:

  • Design, evaluate, test, and implement solutions across the team's core technology platforms, including Cisco Nexus, VMware NSX, AVI Load Balancing, F5 GSLB/LTM, and Infoblox DDI.
  • Lead major infrastructure deployments, upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management initiatives.
  • Ensure network services meet operational requirements for availability, scalability, performance, security, monitoring, automation, and supportability.
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions to improve operational efficiency, reduce risk, and standardize infrastructure management.
  • Partner with architecture, engineering, security, and operations teams to develop resilient and scalable network solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and lead resolution efforts for complex network and application delivery issues.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for critical incidents and platform-related challenges.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and architectural standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across network infrastructure initiatives.
  • Collaborate with vendors to evaluate new technologies, address operational issues, and influence product roadmaps where applicable.
  • Provide recommendations to leadership regarding technology strategy, platform lifecycle planning, and operational improvements.
Position Requirements What Experience You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree preferred and/or equivalent related work experience.
  • 7+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Strong experience with data center networking technologies, including routing, switching, and network architecture principles.
  • Experience supporting Cisco Nexus 9000 or similar enterprise data center switching platforms.
  • Experience with software-defined networking technologies, preferably VMware NSX.
  • Experience supporting application delivery and load balancing platforms, including F5 LTM/GTM (GSLB) and/or NSX Advanced Load Balancer (AVI).
  • Experience with DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (DDI) platforms, preferably Infoblox.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and drive infrastructure improvements across complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Salary Information

Edward Jones' compensation and benefits package includes medical and prescription drug, dental, vision, voluntary benefits (such as accident, hospital indemnity, and critical illness), short- and long-term disability, basic life, and basic AD&D coverage.
