Job Description Title: Mechanical Design Engineer III - Gas Turbine Location: Greenville, South Carolina Openings: 3 Work Model: 2 Remote | 1 On-Site (South Carolina) Job Type: Contract Duration: 12 Months Rate: $55/hour (W2) + Benefits Hours: 40 hours/week Project: Gas Turbine Position Overview We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer III to support gas turbine rotor design and analysis activities for a one-year contract engagement. This role requires strong experience in mechanical design, structural analysis, and cross-functional engineering collaboration within turbine or heavy rotating equipment environments. Key Responsibilities Execute 2D and 3D finite element analyses (FEA) of gas turbine rotor components using Ansys Perform post-processing analyses including: Low Cycle Fatigue (LCF) crack initiation and propagation Bolted joint behavior and strength evaluations Structural integrity assessments Retrieve and manage CAD models from PLM systems Modify and develop CAD models using Siemens NX Support design changes, defect evaluation, and root cause investigations Document and summarize analytical results with clear engineering justifications Support automation of repetitive engineering tasks using Python (as needed) Present technical findings during routine project review meetings Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and cross-functional engineering teams Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) 6+ years of relevant mechanical design and analysis experience Hands-on experience with Ansys for structural and rotor FEA Strong proficiency in Siemens NX Experience with fatigue analysis, bolted joint design, and rotating equipment Ability to independently lead design tasks and provide technical direction Preferred Qualifications Experience in gas turbine or heavy industrial equipment design Familiarity with PLM systems Working knowledge of Python for automation.
