Job description

Switchcraft/Conxall is a leading supplier of connectivity solutions to a variety of markets in the electronics industry. As a US manufacturer of connectors and cables, Switchcraft/Conxall continues to grow by releasing innovative new products and working directly with OEM design engineers to solve their biggest connectivity challenges.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Mold Setup Technician to support efficient and high-quality molding operations. This role is responsible for mold setup, machine adjustments, material management, documentation of processes, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure production runs meet specifications, quality standards, and timelines.
Location: Villa Park, IL

Shift: M - F 7 am - 3:30pm

Pay: $18.54/hour

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Procure, assemble, and install correct mold components according to specifications.
  • Purge molding machines of previous materials prior to setup.
  • Set up and adjust mold pressure, temperature, and cycle time to produce parts that meet specifications.
  • Document and maintain "known good" setups for repeatability and future use.
  • Monitor resin and colorant levels and initiate purchase requisitions as needed.
  • Coordinate with Group Leaders to ensure molds are set up at or before scheduled cell setup and production runs.
  • Document and support the running of sample resins and sample production orders.
  • Collaborate with the Tool Room and Industrial Engineering to repair broken tooling and coordinate new tooling orders when required.
  • Review specification sheets and communicate any errors or discrepancies to Quality or Industrial Engineering.
  • Communicate with Industrial Engineering and the Production Manager regarding process improvements or incorrect standards.
  • Work with Group Leaders to ensure correct quantities of resin and colorant are issued to each job.
  • Previous experience in molding, machine setup, or manufacturing operations preferred.
  • Strong understanding of molding processes, materials, and tooling.
  • Ability to read and interpret specification sheets and process documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Tool Room, and Engineering teams.

  • Gripping with both hands required, fixtures, occasionally used to hold parts in place
