This position is responsible for assisting the assitant dean in all areas of program
operation for veteran and military-affiliated students.
Essential Functions:
1. Conduct student-veteran, alumni-veteran and ROTC cadet outreach and
engagement.
2. Assist with admission and orientation events.
3. Mentor current student-veterans as directed.
4. Monitor academic progress and connect student-veterans to campus resources.
5. Manage all planning and logistics for monthly veterans lunches/
6. Assist with Student Veterans Alliance (student organization).
7. Outreach to prospective student veterans, especially those at community
colleges.
8. Special event planning for Veteran Appreciation Month, Hail & Farewell Banquet,
Military Appreciation Month, and the ROTC Commissioning Ceremony.
9. Database management including for military-affiliated and student veterans - current and alumni
project management and collaboration with other institutional units.
10. Maintain Veterans Resource Center in terms of resources, organization, etc.
11. Miscellaneous duties as assigned to improve the student veteran experience.

Strong Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with student, faculty and staff veterans through verbal, written, and digital formats.
Attention to Detail: Demonstrates precision in planning, executing, and following up on events and projects, ensuring quality and completeness.
Project Management Skills: Interest and some experience in organizing and managing events from start to finish, including timelines and planning documents.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build rapport with student veterans, provide mentorship, and create a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Commitment to Quality: Dedication to maintaining high standards in all areas of work
Problem-Solving Abilities: Capable of addressing challenges that arise with creative and practical solutions, and proactively seeking guidance as needed.
Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects or deadlines simultaneously while maintaining a high level of efficiency.
Collaboration and Teamwork: Willingness to work collaboratively with other departments, student organizations, and external partners to support veteran services.
Cultural Competency: Understanding and sensitivity to the unique experiences and challenges faced by student veterans in higher education.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in office and event planning software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, event reservations, and social media management for promoting events and communications.
Veteran or military-affiliation preferred.
