Job description

Charleston GI has been developing since 1989, our practice is the first and largest gastroenterology practice in the Lowcountry to operate a physicians' practice and three nationally certified and state licensed endoscopy centers. Our team includes ten outstanding Board Certified Gastroenterologists, with a combined experience of over 100 years of treating patients. We value the health, service, and satisfaction of our patients above all else.
JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to patients on the Endoscopy Unit in terms of individual needs, according to physicians orders and in conformity with recognized nursing practice and established policies and procedures. Tasks include, but are not limited to the pre-procedure and post-procedure care of patients scheduled for endoscopic and InterStim procedures. The Registered Nurse initiates and assists with emergency measures as needed. The Registered Nurse may supervise other licensed and unlicensed personnel as instructed by the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, or Charge Nurse. The center is an outpatient facility equipped for diagnostic and therapeutic GI endoscopy procedures. The patient population includes adolescent through geriatric with over 90% of patients age 30 or older. Medical care is managed by physicians who have been privileged and credentialed by the Board of Directors.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience: At least one year clinical experience in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge/Skills:
  • Knowledge of the professional nursing theory and practice, to give and evaluate patient care
  • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
  • Demonstrates initiative, insight and judgment in making decisions.
  • Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care
  • Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions
  • Skill in complete and thorough documentation
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public
  • Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Requirements
REQUIRED
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited school or college of nursing.
PREFERRED
  • Experience: Clinical experience in Endoscopy, ER, OR, or ICU.
  • Knowledge/Skills:
  • Knowledge of endoscopy equipment and procedures
  • Basic computer and keyboard skills
  • Strong organization and communication skills
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina or current licensure as a Registered Nurse in another Compact state
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current ACLS certification, but if not current, must obtain within 6 months. PRN Registered Nurses are not required to maintain ACLS certification.
