Type: Part-Time – Non-Exempt

Schedule: Up to 30 hours per week

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and friendly Fitness Attendant to join our team. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for members while supporting daily wellness center operations. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and a passion for promoting a healthy lifestyle.


Benefits You’ll Receive

  • Complimentary YMCA Membership for Part-Time employees. An additional adult family member may be added for $20 per month.
  • Participation in the National YMCA Retirement Fund, a defined contribution plan. Employees become eligible for a 12% employer contribution after completing 1,000 hours of service in each of two 12-month periods (doesn’t have to be consecutive).

What You’ll Do:

  • Greet members and guests in a friendly and professional manner
  • Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions and offering assistance
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of gym equipment and wellness areas
  • Monitor fitness floor activity to ensure safety guidelines and facility policies are followed
  • Stock and organize supplies and equipment as needed
  • Support members by providing basic guidance on Matrix Fitness equipment use (within scope of role)
  • Promote YMCA programs, memberships, and wellness services when appropriate
  • Communicate effectively with members and staff to maintain a positive environment
  • Attend all required staff meetings and trainings, including abuse risk management and youth safety training

What We’re Looking For:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1-2 years of experience in a fitness-related role required
  • Basic to intermediate computer proficiency required
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly build rapport and establish credibility with members and guests
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively
  • Ability to work efficiently and remain productive in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Passion for fitness and wellness, with the ability to promote a healthy and active lifestyle to members
