Job description

Position acts as Floater/Cashier- Employment Professional in the Retail division for Sunrise Enterprises of Roseburg, Inc., a private non-profit Corporation that provides employment and community inclusion services for adults with disabilities. This position is responsible for and oversees all Cashier tasks, bank deposits, money counts, and cash control. This position is responsible for assisting in the training, supervision, and motivation of participants to work at or above their established productivity level and assist them in achieving their highest potential. This position is responsible for the safety of participants, ensuring their work meets our quality standards, and maintaining all required records and paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.

QUALITFICATIONS
  • Inspires greatness in both the individuals we serve and our team members by fostering a culture of encouragement, growth, and high performance.
  • Minimum 4-6 months' experience in retail/cashiering setting, high-school diploma or GED, or acceptable combination of experience and education.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office products preferred.
  • Experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred but not required (training is provided).
  • Proven, stable employment history.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Valid Oregon driver's license, reliable transportation, and insurable by Sunrise insurance carrier preferred.
  • Pass criminal history check. (May include fingerprinting.)
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen including marijuana/THC.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Operates pallet jacks and hand trucks safely and efficiently.

WORKING CONDITIONS/HOURS
  • Working in one of our 4 retail stores (Myrtle Creek, Winston Roseburg and Sutherlin)
  • Daily and hourly Store hours are typically Sunday - Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Some evening and weekend work is possible due to scheduling, employment service contracts, and sales demand.
  • Overtime may be required with prior approval from the direct supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
CASHIER
  • Travel to assigned store.
  • At the beginning of each shift, promptly review emails, daily schedules, and staff assignments. Ensure merchandise is organized and displayed according to standards, be prepared to deliver excellent customer service. Verify registers are operational, supplies are stocked, and all activities comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in unloading donated products.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to shoppers.
  • Aid customers on the phone.
  • Effectively diffuse disagreeable customers and situations and follow safety protocols.
  • Maintain and balance till within prescribed policies and procedures.
  • Assist Store Manager in aspects of running a retail establishment that has been assigned to you.
  • Set a good example to others regarding skills, behaviors, attitudes and personal characteristics required to function effectively in a work environment.
  • Participate in safety and safety programs. Report any accidents, incidents of neglect, abuse, emergencies or problems to the supervisor and/or appropriate person per policy.
  • Perform duties and complete tasks as requested by supervisor in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Help to maintain and monitor agency records in a professional manner consistent with prescribed guidelines and timelines, training, and expectations.
  • Perform production duties as requested specifically to the assigned department.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings, training, and committees.

Support Functions
  • Assure the quality of Sunrise Employment Services.
  • Serve as a role model for appropriate work behaviors, social skills, respect for others, and cooperation.
  • Follow all participant protocols, including training, employment, medical, and behavioral supports.
  • Provide transportation to participants as needed.
  • Complete and provide evidence of training(s) to meet state requirements for Employment Professionals.
  • Participate in the development of ISPs with Employment Services (must come to agreement of ISP before presenting to ISP team).
  • Submit all required paperwork to respective recipients by scheduled due dates (e.g., record training efforts, participant productivity, progress towards ISP goals, case notes, incident reports, etc.).
  • Keep relationships with participants professional and limited to work settings and supports. Notify your supervisor of any conflicts of interest due to preexisting relationships with participants.
