Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Complex Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) Technician focuses on efficiently ensuring the safety of our ingredients and finished product with an emphasis on food safety and quality.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist implementation, adherence and auditing of all food safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor production records for completion and accuracy.
  • Manually enter data and audit results in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Perform ingredient and finished product analysis.
  • Perform Microbiological Laboratory tasks as assigned.
  • Perform environmental swabbing and report results accurately.
  • Verify lot code information of ingredients and finished product.
  • Prepare ingredient/work-in-process/finished product samples for third party laboratory testing.
  • Verify instruments and equipment for accuracy and calibrate when necessary.
  • Perform and accurately document pre-operational inspections of equipment and instruments.
  • Perform facility inspections and report findings.
  • Handle department-specific tasks. Provide interdepartmental support as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (minimum) College degree in Food Science or adjacent field preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with co-workers and vendors).
  • Ability to think critically, troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Must be flexible to work weekends and other shifts as needed.
  • Able to work well independently, self-motivated, and as a team member.
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the position requiring heavy lifting up to 50 pounds carrying tools and supplies, kneeling, stooping, climbing, and standing on feet for long periods of time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Must possess the ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas each varying in temperature, and other environment specific atmospheres.
  • Must be willing and able to work past the scheduled leave time to complete the job, if needed.
  • Must possess the ability to work in an open office setting.
  • Must maintain professionalism with coworkers.
