Job description

Director of Finance

Carefree, Arizona • On-site • Reports to the Chief Financial Officer

Awaken a new sense of purpose — in your career.

Tucked among 20+ acres of Arizona’s succulent-studded Sonoran Desert, CIVANA is a top-ranked destination wellness resort built on a simple philosophy: happiness first, healthiness always. We’ve earned that reputation by doing the small things with rigor and the big things with heart — and the same is true behind the scenes. We’re looking for a Director of Finance who brings discipline, curiosity, and pride of ownership to the numbers that keep this special place thriving.

This isn’t a back-office role at a faceless company. It’s a seat at the table of an award-winning resort where your work directly shapes how we grow, where you’ll partner with leaders across the property, and where you get to live the wellness culture you help sustain.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Finance leads CIVANA’s on-property accounting function and owns the financial systems and reporting that drive smart decision-making. You’ll lead a small, capable team, manage our outsourced accounting partner, and serve as a trusted financial advisor to resort leadership. If you think in departmental P&Ls, get satisfaction from a clean month-end close, and love turning data into insight, you’ll feel right at home.

What You’ll Own
  • Lead the team. Lead, develop, and manage CIVANA’s accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage the close. Oversee M3 Professional Accounting Services for administrative duties tied to daily accounting and a timely, accurate month-end close.
  • Improve the process. Partner with the Resort Manager and department heads to streamline reporting, processing, and workflows across the property — reducing redundancy and tightening controls.
  • Own the forecast. Drive the annual budget and monthly reforecasting in close partnership with the Revenue Manager in Sales & Marketing, aligning financial targets with business strategy.
  • Own the systems. Own all accounting and reporting systems — M3 Accounting Core, M3 Insight, Reeco, and Corpay — ensuring they are well-integrated, well-controlled, and fully leveraged.
  • Measure performance. Deliver monthly financial performance measurement and management, surfacing trends, variances, and opportunities to improve margin and flow-through.
  • Safeguard the controls. Maintain financial templates, controls, fixed asset and depreciation schedules, cash deposits, and reconciliations with precision.
  • Advise leadership. Provide financial insight and recommendations to the executive team to inform strategic decisions across Rooms, Spa, F&B, and Programs.
The Tools You’ll Master

You’ll be the system owner and in-house expert across our core financial stack:

  • M3 Accounting Core — general ledger and core accounting
  • M3 Insight — financial reporting and analytics
  • Reeco — procurement and AP automation
  • Corpay — payments and expense management
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (MBA or CPA strongly preferred).
  • 5+ years of financial leadership experience, ideally in hospitality, wellness, or luxury resort environments.
  • Command of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis — bonus points for USALI and hospitality departmental reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with financial systems, controls, reconciliations, and asset management; you’re energized by making systems work better together.
  • A process-improvement mindset — you spot redundancy and tighten it without losing rigor.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and the judgment to advise a sophisticated executive team.
Why You’ll Love Working at CIVANA

We ask a lot of our team — and we give a lot back. CIVANA isn’t just where you’ll work; it’s a place designed to make you well.

  • Live the wellness life — complimentary access to 10+ daily wellness classes and programming, from sunrise desert hikes and outdoor yoga to sound baths and the ropes course.
  • Affordable health insurance effective the 1st of the month following your hire date.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching.
  • Complimentary shift meal from our innovative, plant-forward culinary team.
  • Generous Team Member and Friends & Family resort rates, plus discounts on spa, dining, and retail.
  • Paid time off and holidays to rest and recharge — because we practice what we preach.
  • Real growth — a high-visibility seat reporting to the CFO, with room to shape processes, systems, and your own career path.
  • A workplace worth showing up to — 20+ acres of Sonoran Desert beauty, an AAA Four-Diamond, award-winning resort, and a team of like-minded wellness leaders.
A Few of Our Accolades

You’ll be joining a resort the world has noticed:

  • Newsweek’s World’s Most Extraordinary Spas (2026)
