Compensation: $23.20 per hour

The Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning rooms as assigned on a daily basis. The Housekeeping Room Attendant must ensure rooms are cleaned and maintained to hotels set standards. Rooms must be ready in a timely manner for guests accommodations and work must be done in a safe, accident free manner according to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Interaction with guests and co workers must be conducted in a service oriented and friendly manner.
WORK REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a clean and organize housekeeping cart and linen room daily.
  • Responsible for lost and found articles according to hotel policy.
  • Communicate any maintenance issues within the guests room with the Room Inspectors.
  • Communicate guests complaints regarding housekeeping service or equipment to the Room Inspector and or Executive Housekeeper.
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor with guests, co workers, at all times.
  • Must be able to sweep, mop, use a vacuum, dust, and wipe surfaces vertically and horizontally.
  • Must be able to work with chemicals such as bleach, bathroom cleaner, glass cleaner, and floor cleaner.
  • Communicate with other hotel departments regarding problem which may need their attention.
  • Provide the highest quality of service to the customer at all times.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals, items that may or suspect they contain bloodborne pathogens or sharps (needles) instruments.
  • Must attend and participate in department safety meetings.
  • Requires to work at a fast pace and must be quick and efficient when completing assigned tasks or rooms.
  • Required the room attendant to work well under pressure when hotels occupancy is high or sold out.
  • Room Attendant schedule may change according to occupancy and requires flexibility with schedule. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
  • Must work well with co workers. Supervisors check each Room Attendants rooms and will bring the room attendant assigned to the room back to complete cleaning the room according to hotel standards if necessary.
  • Must be able to clean bathrooms thoroughly in 25-30 minutes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • While preforming the duties of this job, the employee is regular required to talk and hear.
  • Constantly (6 to 8 hours) - Required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle to feel; and reach overhead with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally ( up to 3 hours) - Required sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch/crawl.
  • Occasionally ( up to 3 hours) - Light Work - Lift or move up to 1lbs. - 10 lbs. - 10% of the time.
  • Frequently ( 3 -6 hours) - Medium Work - Lift or move up to 10lbs. - 30 lbs. - 45% of the time.
  • Frequently ( 3-6 hours) - Heavy Work - Push or pull. lift or move 50 lbs. - 70 lbs. of force - 45% of the time.
  • Constantly ( 6 - 8 hours) - Lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Specific vision abilities require by the job include: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • May be frequently exposed to fumes, chemicals, dust, or airborne particles.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to communicate information and ideas clearly.
  • Able to evaluate and choose an alternative plan of action quickly and accurately.
  • Work well in stressful and high pressure situations.
  • The ability to work and thoroughly read and understand basic arithmetic functions.
  • Effectively listen, understand, and clarify concerns and issues raised by co workers and hotel guests.
