Roofing Insurance information

What is roofing insurance?

Roofing insurance is a specialized type of business insurance designed for roofing contractors and companies. It typically includes general liability coverage, workers’ compensation, and sometimes commercial auto insurance, all tailored to the unique risks faced in the roofing industry. This insurance protects roofing professionals from financial losses due to accidents, property damage, bodily injuries, and legal claims that may occur during roofing projects. Having roofing insurance is often required by law or by clients to ensure safety and accountability. It also helps roofing businesses maintain credibility and trust with customers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in roofing insurance?

To succeed in roofing insurance, you need a solid understanding of property insurance policies, claims assessment, and roofing systems, often supported by experience in insurance or construction and relevant licensing. Familiarity with claims management software, estimating tools like Xactimate, and industry regulations is typically required. Strong negotiation, attention to detail, and customer service skills set top professionals apart in this field. These competencies ensure accurate claims processing, client satisfaction, and compliance with industry standards.

What are common challenges faced by professionals working in roofing insurance, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in roofing insurance often encounter challenges such as accurately assessing roof damage, differentiating between storm-related issues and pre-existing wear, and managing claims fraud. Staying updated on roofing materials, building codes, and the latest inspection technologies is crucial for accurate evaluations. Collaborating closely with contractors, adjusters, and policyholders can help clarify claim details and ensure fair outcomes. Ongoing training and clear communication are key strategies for addressing these common hurdles.

Roofing Insurance Restoration Sales Representative

Presidential Exteriors

Rockville, MD • On-site

$150K - $250K/yr

Full-time, Contractor

Re-posted 28 days ago

Job description

Roofing Insurance Restoration Sales Representative
$150K-$250K+ Expected Earnings | Top Performers $400K+
Office Location: Rockville, MD
1099 Independent Contractor
Presidential Exteriors is one of the fastest-growing exterior remodeling companies in the Mid-Atlantic, recognized by the Washington Business Journal and ranked #67 on Qualified Remodeler's Top 500.
What matters here is simple:
  • You can make real money. Our structure is built so you can focus on selling, not chasing supplements or managing jobs.
  • We have the backend dialed in. In-house supplementation, dedicated install crews, and real support so you can move faster and close more.
  • We're growing. This isn't a seat-filling role. There's real opportunity to build and scale your book.
  • Performance drives everything. If you produce, you win.

Most reps come here because they're tired of being slowed down somewhere else. If you want to sell more, earn more, and deal with less friction, this is it.
What you'll do
  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing residential and commercial insurance restoration projects
  • Work with homeowners, insurance adjusters, and internal teams throughout the restoration process
  • Generate new business through networking, field outreach, and referrals
  • Coordinate with our in-house supplementation and installation teams to support project execution
  • Maintain strong communication with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle

Important scope note. Sales representatives prepare repair estimates and answer an insurance carrier's questions about those estimates. They do not adjust, negotiate, or settle insurance claims on a homeowner's behalf, and they do not act as licensed public adjusters. A Maryland home improvement license does not authorize public adjusting.
What we're looking for
  • 1+ year of insurance restoration or storm damage sales experience preferred
  • Active Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC) salesperson license, or the ability to obtain one before selling. Requires passing the PSI salesperson exam. No prior experience required for the license itself, and we'll walk you through the process.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Self-motivated and performance driven
  • Ability to manage your own pipeline and sales activities
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Your own equipment (ladder, appropriate boots, and similar)
  • Comfortable working at heights and on roofs, and able to carry and set your own ladder

This role suits independent sales professionals who are confident, disciplined, and motivated by performance-based earnings.
What we offer
  • Uncapped commission. This role is commission-only and earnings vary based on individual production. Top producers have historically earned $400K+.
  • Paid training for your first several weeks. You get paid while you learn our products, our process, and our claim documentation workflow.
  • In-house supplementation team supporting insurance claim documentation
  • Dedicated installation teams so you can focus on selling
  • Ongoing sales and leadership development
  • Annual leadership conferences
  • Performance-based incentive trips, including Cancun, Dubai, Greece, and Turks & Caicos
  • Opportunity to take on larger territory and higher-value accounts as your production grows

Our vision: Improvement in Every Way
We strive to continuously improve:
  • Our customers' homes
  • The careers and lives of the people we work with
  • Our systems and processes
  • Ourselves as people and leaders
  • Our culture, because when the standard rises, everything else follows

How this role works
This is a 1099 independent contractor engagement. You control your own schedule, your pipeline, and your income. You are responsible for your own taxes, insurance, equipment, and business expenses. After the initial paid training period, compensation is commission-only with no base salary or guaranteed minimum.
Why Presidential Exteriors?
Because we build trust through integrity and win through culture. We reward performance and create opportunities for people who are driven to succeed. If you're ready to grow personally, professionally, and financially, we want to hear from you.
Apply today and build a future you're proud of.
Presidential Exteriors is an equal opportunity organization. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, age, disability, genetic information, veteran or military status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all team members and independent sales representatives.
If you need a reasonable accommodation to complete the application process, please contact our HR department.
