Maintenance/Mechanic

Department: Maintenance

Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical issues, and completing repairs on marina equipment, boats, buildings, grounds, and related facilities. This position helps ensure that all equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe, functional, and efficient condition while supporting the daily operations of the marina.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and determine appropriate parts, repairs, and labor requirements.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on buildings, grounds, equipment, and marina facilities.
  • Inspect facilities and equipment to identify maintenance and repair needs.
  • Perform general maintenance duties including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, concrete, welding, roofing, landscaping, and restroom maintenance.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on boats, engines, trailers, and other marina equipment as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate service, maintenance, and repair records for engines, vessels, and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Safely operate maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with other maintenance staff to complete projects and repairs efficiently.
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous maintenance or mechanical repair experience required.
  • Experience working with inboard and outboard marine engines, including Tohatsu motors, preferred.
  • Technical or vocational training in mechanical repair is a plus.
  • Experience operating boats preferred.
  • California Boater Card preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read service manuals, repair diagrams, and operating instructions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable.
  • Must provide a personal set of mechanic's tools.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and machinery.
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks associated with maintenance and mechanical repair.
