Job description
Join a well-established and expanding healthcare provider in Northwest Indiana that actively prioritizes physician well-being and a sustainable work-life balance. This full-time position offers the unique opportunity to design your practice around your professional goals within a premier, tech-forward environment, distinguished as one of the few HIMSS Stage VII facilities in the country.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and document a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient
- Call Rotation: CRNAs act as a second call to the Anesthesiologists. Typically, here for a case if there is more than 1 OR running after 3:30pm on the weekdays; or if this occurs on the weekends. We do our best to try not to schedule any electric cases past 3:30pm. When fully staffed, there is a weeknight and weekend rotation amongst 3 CRNAs. The schedules are monthly.
- Develop an appropriate anesthesia care plan based on patient history and surgical needs
- Select, obtain, and administer the anesthetic, adjuvant, and accessory drugs and fluids
- Manage patient airway and pulmonary status using masks, endotracheal intubation, or mechanical ventilation
- Facilitate emergence and recovery from anesthesia by selecting and administering medications
- Provide post-anesthesia follow-up care and evaluate patient response to anesthesia
- Support 28 ORs and Non-Operating Room Anesthesia areas including 7 GI suites, Cath Labs, and IR
- Manage a daily patient volume of 2 to 10 cases depending on complexity
- Participate in a 1 weekend per month call rotation
- Utilize AI-functionality within the Epic EMR system for inpatient and outpatient documentation
- Maintain compliance with HIMSS Stage VII standards for digital medical record sophistication
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff in a multidisciplinary team
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols and infection control standards
- Attend departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program
- Current state registered nurse license
- Current state advanced practice nurse prescriber license
- Board Certified or Board Eligible by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Proficiency with Epic EMR systems preferred
