The Opportunity
Looking for a career where your mechanical skills and tech-savviness pay off? Sheridan Liberty has an immediate opening for a 3rd Shift Roll Tender! You will be the backbone of our web offset printing press, keeping production flowing without a hitch. If you are highly mechanical, comfortable with computers, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we want you on our team. Experience is preferred, but we will train the right person!
  • Shift: 3rd Shift (Sunday night through Thursday night, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM)

Key Responsibilities
  • Load & Position: Load large paper rolls onto the automatic splicing unit, insert the splicer shaft, and secure holding chucks.
  • Inspect & Prep: Check rolls for blemishes or tears, cut away damaged areas with a knife, and apply adhesive strips to backup rolls.
  • Operate & Adjust: Manage the auto-splicer and make critical adjustments to ensure continuous, uninterrupted press operation.
  • Thread & Flow: Thread paper through complex press components following exact job specifications.
  • Transport & Logistics: Safely operate a mechanical truck to move heavy paper rolls to the press area as needed.
  • Maintain & Clean: Keep the press and components in pristine working order, and prepare flat stock for sheet-fed presses.
Qualifications
  • Aptitude: High mechanical aptitude and strong familiarity with computers are required.
  • Experience: Previous manufacturing or printing experience is preferred (especially with web offset presses and auto-splicers), but not required.
  • Skills: Ability to troubleshoot, adjust auto-splicers, and follow detailed job specifications.
  • Detail & Stamina: Sharp eye for inspecting paper quality and the physical stamina to handle large rolls during overnight hours.
  • Bonus Points: Certification or experience operating mechanical trucks or lift trucks.
