Position Description
The Chiller business will serve Data Center Customersin North America. Our mission is to enable the world's data centers to operate efficiently and sustainably through innovative thermal management solutions. The Chiller business will grow through selling products in the vertical as well as collaborating with other part of the Data Center business to deliver systems to customers. The business will leverage global capabilities and strategic partnerships to deliver integrated, regionally optimized solutions.
Make no mistake, this is a hyper growth business that will require an entrepreneur that can scale a business for the future. While we are building this vertical for exponential expansion, you are not starting from zero, this business unit is positioned for hyper growth from an existing enterprise of >$500M to >$1B, supported by an established operational footprint that currently includes four dedicated manufacturing plants.
Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Business Unit Management
    • Provide comprehensive Business Unit Management, leading the formation and growth of the new vertical from startup phase to maturity.
    • Navigate operational challenges such as talent acquisition, market entry, supply chain setup, and brand development.
    • Promote a culture of innovation, trust, and accountability. Act as a leader, coach, and mentor to strengthen the team's capabilities and fill gaps in talent or skills. Champion the Modine Values at all times.
    • Prepare and present annual sales, operating, and strategic plans to executive leadership.
    • Influence and align priorities across functions to accelerate growth and execution.
    • Navigate ambiguity and rapid change while building foundational systems, processes, and culture.
    • Build a high-performing team and apply 80/20 principles to drive focus, agility, and execution.
  • Scale the Vertical & P&L Management
    • Own full P&L Management for the Chiller business unit, ensuring speed-to-market is balanced with long-term financial sustainability and profitability.
    • Scale the business, driving rapid growth in a dynamic and evolving market.
    • Lead go-to-market strategy, product portfolio development, and operational infrastructure.
    • Create a 3-5 year strategic roadmap to establish market leadership, define major initiatives, and allocate resources for sustainable hypergrowth.
    • Evaluate and prioritize new business opportunities to ensure alignment with profitability and strategic goals
    • Include a differentiated delivery model leveraging late-stage assembly (LSA) strategies
  • Business Development
    • Secure early customer wins and build strategic partnerships to establish market credibility.
    • Work collaboratively with existing sales team while developing vertical specific sales organization to fuel growth of new vertical
    • Evaluate the need for and then develop partnership to expand offer beyond cooling system and controls to power and other adjacent data center needs.
  • Product Management & Engineering
    • Drive strategic product management and engineering alignment to deliver technology and product roadmaps that accelerate growth beyond market CAGR.
    • Manage resource constraints while prioritizing high-impact initiatives engineering and product initiatives.
  • Operations Management
    • Oversee end-to-end operations management to support exponential growth in demand, manufacturing complexity, and deployment footprint.
    • Establish an optimal manufacturing and deployment footprint to support rapid scaling, regional responsiveness, and efficient use of capital with differentiation through LSA.
    • Develop and deliver the annual operating plan (AOP) for the global business.
    • Implement operational best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to drive productivity, cost efficiency, and profitable growth.

Required Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Finance.
  • Proven experience managing a $250M+ Business Unit and high-growth division, with full P&L responsibility.
  • 3 or more years of experience launching or scaling a new business or vertical. Experience in data center infrastructure, modular construction, or high-growth technology sectors is a plus.
  • 5 or more years of experience in general management, in a high-growth environment preferred.
  • Experience in operations management (such as footprint strategy, plant start-ups, as well as operations and supply chain scaling) and product management (lifecycle planning, roadmapping, and technical prioritization)

Reporting/Org:
  • Reports to the Data Center Group Vice President - Americas.
  • Member of the Americas executive leadership team; collaborates with other vertical Vice President/General Managers across the Data Center Vertical
  • Leads a cross-functional team with direct in Product Management, Engineering, Operations, and indirect reports in Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, and HR.

Travel:
Medium to high travel expected across North America to engage with customers, partners, and manufacturing sites. Light travel to Europe and Asia may be required as the business expands.
