RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and sustains an environment that supports excellence in clinical practice and promotes quality patient care with a focus on safety.
  • Develops programs and strategies to monitor the quality of patient care and patient outcomes.
  • Promotes collaboration with medical and administrative colleagues in establishing the unit's patient care goals and daily operations.
  • Ensures that the philosophy, standards and policies of the organization are translated into action on the patient care unit.
  • Develops, justifies and implements, in collaboration with the Director, the long-term staffing pattern, personnel complement needs and recruitment plan for the patient care unit.
  • Allocates resources to achieve clinical care and financial goals by preparing, monitoring, and maintaining approved salary and non-salary budgets.
  • Selects and develops staff to meet patient care goals.
  • Monitors and evaluates operations for compliance with licensure, accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • Supports and facilitates staff professional development and participation in research programs.
  • Demonstrates leadership and influences others in both the internal and external environments to promote optimal care to individual patients and optimal health care services to the public.
  • Pursues a continuing program of self-development in order to maintain, strengthen and broaden own concepts, philosophy and abilities.
  • Performs quality responsibilities on one or more key processes assigned. This may include but is not limited to quality, regulatory and risk management functions or parts thereof.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
