Amerisure is currently recruiting for a Software Engineer I that can do a 3-day hybrid approach in our Farmington Hills office. The ideal candidate will also possess the following skill set.

Summary Statement

Assists with coding projects, troubleshoots basic technical issues, and provides support to senior engineers with architectural designs and project tasks. This role involves working with cloud platforms, applying software design principles, and using DevOpstools and processes. Participates in assigned projects by developing code, troubleshooting issues, writing automated tests, documenting workflows, assisting with manual testing, and contributing to innovation efforts.

Essential Tasks/Major Duties

  • Assist with software architecture and system design under the guidance of senior engineers, applying software design patterns and principles while understanding trade-offs.
  • Support projects with multiple stakeholders across IT, contributing to high-priority initiatives.
  • Follow established software development processes and methodologies.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve coding errors by reviewing logs, stepping through execution, and using debugging tools to improve software reliability and troubleshoot integrations.
  • Help maintain domain operations for financial applications, sales platforms, integrations, and key business systems, ensuring reliability and performance.
  • Participate in agile practices, supporting the Scrum Master role as needed, and collaborating with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives.
  • Assist in creating architectural diagrams using tools like Lucidchart and Visio, applying cloud-native and modern engineering development principles.
  • Contribute to the management of system-generated data, ensuring data quality and proactively addressing potential issues.
  • Track and report on KPIs, compliance requirements, and business outcomes.
  • Develop and support test automation frameworks and tools, writing automated test scripts using frameworks like JUnit, NUnit, GT-Framework and pytest to validate code functionality and prevent regressions.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code while adhering to industry best practices, security guidelines, and company coding standards.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in computer information services, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic proficiency in at least one language and frameworks including programming, low-code solutions, and process automation technologies.
  • Understand and design low complexity system architectures, collaborate with other senior engineers and architecture.
  • Familiarity in one cloud platforms preferred.
  • Familiarity of cloud-native technologies (e.g., containers, serverless) and cloud-first development.
  • Ability to comprehend and discuss appropriate software design patterns/principles to new solutions.
  • Understanding of version control, CI/CD pipelines and the ability to deploy simple applications.
  • Utilize existing or create new assets for their code including automated unit test coverage, regression tests, documentation, security, or monitoring.
  • Basic understanding of testing concepts (unit, integration, system) Familiarity with test case design and execution
  • Experience with manual testing and defect tracking.
  • Collaborates on ideas of others, discusses new ideas or assists in the implementation of new ideas via applied technology (ex. AI/ML, RPA, etc.) to solve real-world problems.
  • Basic understanding of system generated data, where and how it flows, data quality, and data stewardship across domain.
  • Awareness of best practices and building secure applications and integrations (ex. NIST Top 25, OWASP Top 10)
  • Basic understanding of technical domain operations, KPIs, compliance requirements, audit and control mechanisms, and advanced knowledge of business processes and outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
