Job description
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician will support reliable plant operations by maintaining and repairing a wide variety of CNC machinery, automated production equipment, and facility systems. This role focuses on troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and driving continuous improvement to reduce downtime and improve equipment performance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair CNC machines (e.g., lathes, grinders, hones, and related equipment).
- Maintain and repair automation systems integrated with production equipment, including robots, sensors, vision systems, drives, and motion controls.
- Perform preventative maintenance on CNC, automation, and support equipment according to established schedules.
- Respond to equipment and facility breakdowns; quickly restore power and operation to minimize production interruptions.
- Support and maintain facility systems such as compressed air, HVAC, lighting, and basic plumbing and electrical.
- Perform general building maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Accurately document maintenance activities, parts usage, and root causes in maintenance systems.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend/implement permanent corrective actions.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and other technicians to improve equipment reliability and safety.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, uptime, and cost reduction.
- Effective communication, interpersonal skills to coordinate with operations, explain repairs, and collaborate with team members.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- 3+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably with CNC and automated equipment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment failures efficiently.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
- Experience with industrial automation components including sensors, drives, PLCs, servo systems preferred.
- Strong mechanical & technical aptitude, understanding of tools, equipment, ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to balance planned maintenance tasks alongside urgent, unexpected repair requests.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and hands-on maintenance experience will be considered.
