Job description

Amazon OpsTech Network Engineering is seeking an experienced Network Development Manager III to lead the development and delivery of world-class, fully automated LAN and Wireless network solutions for Amazon's Fulfillment Technologies and Robotics operations. As Amazon expands at a tremendous rate across all services, this role will drive innovation in network automation, AI-powered solutions, and next-generation network architectures.
The Network Development Manager III will lead a team of highly skilled Network Development Engineers to design, build, and deploy LAN and Wireless network products for our global fulfillment network infrastructure. This role requires deep technical expertise combined with strong people development skills to mentor engineers and advance their technical capabilities. You will be responsible for driving technical innovation, establishing engineering best practices, and delivering scalable network solutions that meet Amazon's demanding requirements.
Key job responsibilities
- Set technical vision and strategy for LAN and Wireless network development. Guide architectural decisions and establish technical standards. Champion integration of AI and machine learning to enhance network automation and operations.
- Drive operational excellence through automated network solutions. Establish metrics and KPIs to measure service health and performance. Ensure timely delivery of network development projects. Scale development practices to support rapid platform expansion across global operations.
- Partner with internal teams and external vendors to drive innovation in network automation and tooling. Work with vendors to influence product roadmaps and integrate emerging technologies. Champion adoption of AI-powered tools and generative AI applications for network operations. Foster a culture of experimentation and innovation through strategic partnerships. Identify and evaluate new technologies that can benefit Amazon's network infrastructure.
- Establish engineering metrics to measure service availability, deployment velocity, and system reliability. Drive quality through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration. Measure deployment success rates, defect rates, network capacity utilization, and cycle times for continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular technical roadmap reviews and align operational priorities with organizational objectives. Provide mentoring in network engineering, automation development, and software engineering practices. Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning.

About the team
The OpsTech Networking organization supports multiple business units globally, from the smallest delivery stations in emerging markets to the most advanced automated fulfillment centers in North America, Japan, Europe, and India. This group works on both tactical and long-term strategic projects.
The OpsTech Networking Core team builds the edge network infrastructure that powers Amazon fulfillment centers, transportation sites, and grocery operations worldwide. The team is responsible for wireless and LAN architecture across 3,700 Amazon sites globally.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 4+ years of managing teams experience
- Experience managing teams of 8+ engineers
- Knowledge of network design, protocols and troubleshooting
- 5+ years of experience in designing, deploying and operating large scale wired/wireless networks
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in building and developing a high performance team
- Experience communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience presenting root cause analysis and error correction from operational events to senior management
- Experience developing operational metrics
- Experience in wireless system design and architecture, system integration, and RF system analysis

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
