Job description

Maintenance Supervisor

The Maintenance Supervisor plans, organizes, and provides supervision and oversight for daily maintenance operations and activities in the Montgomery Plant, which includes hourly maintenance employees and outside contractors; coordinates department activities with those of other departments; inspects and troubleshoots equipment and maintenance work; orders necessary parts and performs related work as required. Additionally oversees the fabricating of metal parts and tools.

This position will support Rheem North America, based in Montgomery, AL (Onsite).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the direct supervision of hourly Maintenance Department Employees including: Electricians, Maintenance Mechanics, Oilier, Working Leaders and Dispatcher.
  • Directs electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic trouble shooting, maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, and buildings.
  • Supervises maintenance staff by determining workloads and schedules; develops, interprets and implements policies and procedures; evaluates staff and makes hiring and termination recommendations; and ensures that staff are trained in complex maintenance activities and are following standard operating procedures.
  • Direct the planning, layout and ordering of materials for including: repairing, overhauling, servicing, and assembling tools, machines, and equipment; or construction and repair of buildings, additions, partitions and wooden furniture and equipment; or electrical and electronic systems and equipment; or, setup and operation of various machines in operations.
  • Plan the department workload and courses of action for self and others to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum.
  • Interacts professionally with all departments, and maintains effective working relationships with the management team to effectively meet departmental objectives.
  • Conduct safety meetings for the purpose of training hourly employees in proper safety habits, adherence to rules of good housekeeping and maintaining safe working conditions.
  • Assume responsibility for the proper instruction and training of employees to ensure a well-trained workforce.
  • Assists in the selection of staff; performs periodic evaluations of subordinates and recommends and implements discipline as required.
  • Oversees the completion and documentation of maintenance work orders by staff; guides and assists staff as necessary with complex tasks, and performs quality inspections of work as appropriate.
  • Responds to emergencies as requested; coordinates activities with other responders; directs the work of staff and utilization of resources to effect repair and ensure the safety of equipment and personnel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field of study with 5 years' experience in industrial maintenance or a combination of education and/or equivalent and/or transferrable experience in a manufacturing operations environment may be considered.
  • Strong knowledge in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of machinery, equipment, and buildings.
  • Preventive and corrective maintenance procedures and planning.
  • Ability to lead others with troubleshooting results in reduced downtime.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and possess the ability to work and interact in a team setting.
  • Ability to develop and train employees and have good organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze problems and recommend and implement improvements.
  • Must have excellent communication skills to deal effectively with other functional areas of the company.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

HOW TO STAND OUT

  • Proficiency in electrical/mechanical repair, hydraulics, pneumatics, and preventative maintenance software.
  • Fanuc robots operation and programming
  • Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting and programming
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles.
  • Prior maintenance experience in a HVAC, automotive, industrial or similar manufacturing environments.
