Job description

Regional Crop Imaging & Data Technician – Southcentral Region (South Texas / Rio Grande Valley) Part-Time Contract | Field-Based | $25–$34 per hour

Ecorobotix Inc. creates innovative robotic solutions that reduce the negative ecological impact of modern agriculture. We have developed an AI-based ultra-high precision spot spraying technology that drastically reduces the amount of chemicals used in crop fields while keeping costs competitive. The technology is currently deployed on our tractor-towed ARA machine.

By joining our talented and dynamic team, you will contribute to a more sustainable, environment-friendly agriculture in an innovative scale-up at the cutting edge of technology. We are a revolutionary organization with a great work environment that supports creativity through self-motivation.

To pursue our growth in the USA, we are hiring a Regional Crop Imaging & Data Technician for the Southcentral Region (primarily South Texas / Rio Grande Valley area, e.g., McAllen–Laredo and surrounding territories).

General Objective of the Role

The part-time, field-based Regional Crop Imaging & Data Technician is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with horticultural producers and various local farmers (family and professional network) and assessing whether their land has products to photograph and obtain permits to do so. This role will produce high-quality images with our in-house developed steady-cam of desired crops and document their evolution in the field. This person will work outdoors and ensure regular monitoring of crops in their geographical area.

Reporting Lines and Interactions

This role reports to the Image & Data Collection Team Leader based in Switzerland. Internally, close collaboration with other members of the pre- and after-sales team and other teams of Ecorobotix Inc. is required. Externally, interaction with dealers, farmers, partners, associations, trade shows, agronomists, and CCAs, among others, is required. This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling based on seasonal agricultural activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospect and build relationships with horticultural producers and farmers across the Southcentral region to identify suitable fields, capture images of their crops, and obtain necessary permits.
  • Capture high-quality images and document crop evolution in the field using Ecorobotix’s in-house developed steady-cam equipment, contributing to critical datasets that support AI model training and precision agriculture solutions.
  • Maintain all imaging and data collection equipment in optimal working condition.
  • Prepare reports on field observations and stay informed about regional crop cultivation plans, growing seasons, and agricultural practices.
  • Travel 50–80% within the assigned Southcentral territory (primarily South Texas / Rio Grande Valley), with occasional travel outside the region as needed. This is primarily an outdoor, field-based role.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Interest in or basic knowledge of agricultural botany (crops and weeds)
  • Comfort with image/video acquisition and basic IT tools (tablets with internal software, smartphones) for communications and data management
  • Existing network of contacts in the agricultural and horticultural sector of the Southcentral / South Texas region, or strong ability to build one quickly
  • Ability to work independently outdoors in varying weather conditions and manage a flexible, travel-heavy schedule

Preferred / Desired Experience & Skills

  • Knowledge of arable farming techniques (weeds, weeding methods, herbicide active ingredients, cultivation techniques, machinery, and producer workflows)
  • Experience with field data collection, crop scouting, or precision agriculture technologies
  • Interest in imaging, robotics applications, embedded vision, and innovative machines
  • Strong interest in the agricultural sector and its sustainability challenges
  • Autonomous, detail-oriented, collaborative, sociable, and eager to learn
  • Analytical and structured approach with the ability to adapt quickly to changing field conditions and priorities
  • Sensitivity to environmental issues and green technologies
