Job description

Overview: GW Lisk designs, manufactures, and provides post warranty support for complex, high reliability products that support space, aerospace, industrial and automotive applications. The manufacturing environment supports global customers across both high volume/low mix as well as low volume/high-mix products with an emphasis on complex machining, plating, welding, assembly, and testing processes. New product development and introduction is a critical aspect of this role and the successful candidate will be involved in all stages of product lifecycles. Additionally, the successful candidate will take on an active, hands-on role in the continuous improvement of manufacturing capabilities, as well as the ongoing development of manufacturing and testing practices.

Specific Duties:

  • Ensures effective communication between mechanical and electrical systems (PLC, HMI, Vision Systems, and Robotics).
    • Maintain software revision control of electrical systems
  • Leads control system design for new equipment, and planned upgrades
  • Monitors and analyzes equipment performance to identify and implement operational improvements
  • Interfaces with Test Engineering for effective communication between equipment and database(s)
  • Able to analyze existing production processes, identify work elements, time them & optimize balance.
  • Provides equipment support and troubleshooting expertise
  • Conceptualize, specify & implement industrial automation to reduce manual labor content & improve quality.
  • Refines and enhances processes by applying continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing techniques to areas of production.
  • Facilitates and supports visual management in a production environment.
  • Evaluates capital equipment investments and prepares cost justifications. Designs and prepares concept controls schematics for new equipment or modifications to existing equipment. Writes equipment specifications for work with outside vendors.
  • Identifies and implements solutions for issues relating to safety, quality, productivity, cost & delivery
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, and establishing standards to confirm and validate manufacturing process requirements.
  • Determines root cause of failure using statistical methods (e.g., design of experiment, SPC) that may result in changes in design, tolerances, or processing methods.
  • Participates in new product development engineering efforts and critical design reviews to minimize product development costs and maximize useful life of products.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing error proof mechanisms; establishing standards; and validating manufacturing processes.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Qualifications (specify required or desired):

  • BS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of engineering.
  • 3-5 years related experience in an engineering role
  • Experience in analyzing process capabilities and developing and implementing product development plans and process improvement plans
  • Hands-on experience with implementation of factory automation, including PLC, HMI, robotics, and vision systems.
  • Adept w/ MS Project to track project schedules
  • Lean manufacturing experience.

Preferred:

  • 3-5 years relevant Controls Engineering experience
  • Familiarity with Allen Bradley, Cognex and Keyence vision systems, Fanuc and Epson robots.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification


Compensation: $73,000.00 - $95,000.00 annual base salary based experience
