ABOUT THE TEAM

Anduril's Manufacturing Automation team is seeking a Staff Robotics Engineer to join our team. The Manufacturing Automation team is responsible for the design, integration, and deployment of automated manufacturing systems across Anduril factories. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to help define what production automation looks like for Anduril at a national scale.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Select, design, and integrate industrial robots / cobots for manufacturing automation, from initial concept through full production deployment
  • Develop, optimize, and debug robot programs, including motion planning, path planning, safety configurations, and vision-based guidance
  • Specify, select, and integrate EOAT, including grippers, sensors, and custom tooling
  • Design and manage robot cell layouts, including safety enclosures, work envelopes, and necessary infrastructure
  • Implement and verify safety functions (STO, SLS, etc.) in accordance with relevant safety standards
  • Develop and execute simulation models to validate robot reach, cycle time, and potential collisions before physical implementation
  • Select and integrate robot dresspacks
  • Develop and enforce internal standards for robotic system design, programming, safety, and integration
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including controls engineers, mechanical designers, and production staff, to ensure seamless integration of robotic systems
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in robotics and automation within a manufacturing production environment
  • Expert in programming and commissioning robots / cobots from FANUC and UR
  • Significant experience in utilizing robot simulation software (e.g., RoboDK, FANUC ROBOGUIDE, UR Virtual Controller, Delmia)
  • Strong theoretical and practical understanding of robot kinematics, dynamics, motion control, and advanced path planning techniques
  • Strong capability in the configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting of robot drives, servo motors, and associated motion control systems
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial safety standards (e.g., ISO 10218, RIA R15.06) and the implementation of safety functions like STO, SLS, SS1, etc
  • Proven experience in EOAT selection, design, integration, and troubleshooting, including pneumatic, electric, and vacuum grippers
  • Knowledge of PLC programming (Rockwell and Siemens)
  • Strong understanding of EtherNet/IP and Profinet
  • Experience designing and deploying robotic dispense systems
  • Experience integrating and configuring vision systems for guidance, inspection, and quality control
  • Familiarity with CAD packages including Solidworks, NX, CATIA, or AutoCAD
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 12+ years of hands-on experience in robotics and automation within a manufacturing production environment
  • Experience designing robots and other mechatronic systems from scratch
  • TUV FS Engineer certification (Functional Safety of Machinery)
