Job purpose

We are seeking a professional, detail-oriented, compassionate Clinical Psychologist - Family Health Clinic. To provide counseling services at the Military Medical Center (MOMMC), 99th Medical Treatment Facility (MTF), Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. Contract for 8-koi: a diverse Florida-based service and consulting company that has been providing outing results for our clients for over 20 years. The contractor shall provide general support for medical operations.

Primary mission is to maintain medical readiness for worldwide contingencies by providing quality, cost-effective health care for Military Medical Center.

Duties and responsibilities

• Participates in and successfully completes Air Force BHC training. Demonstrates core competency skills to an expert trainer within 90 days of starting to see patients in primary care. The 90-day threshold for demonstration of core competency skills will be extended if the Air Force is unable to provide training opportunities within 90 days.
• Provides brief (typically no more than four appointments) cognitive/behavioral interventions in primary care under the Air Force consultation model (i.e., per MTF policies). Services will mimic the pace of primary care (i.e., patients seen for 15- to 30-minute appointments).
• May provide classes and/or groups in format appropriate for primary care (e.g., drop-in stress management class, group medical visit for a chronic condition).
• Successfully consults with PCMs on-demand about general issues or specific patients.
• Ensures PCMs receive same-day verbal and/or written feedback on patients referred.
• Perform the following as the situation dictates: Consult with appropriate specialists, provide counseling, teach education classes/trainings, attend all meeting/trainings and prepare accurate records and reports as required to support the services rendered and in accordance with established protocol utilizing the current electronic health record and medical information system.
• Delivers brief presentations/trainings to primary care team members regarding behavioral health issues and BHC services.
• Participates in team efforts to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise clinical pathway programs needed in the clinic.
• Duties may include providing guidance, consultation, and clinical support to providers who are in training or not fully licensed.
• Maintain accurate and current notes in the electronic medical records of all patients seen.
• Consults with medical personnel, legal authorities, and military commanders as required.
• Participates in military specific training (e.g., use of MTF policies to Managing Suicidal Behavior, pre-post deployment screening, PTSD, and combat stress, etc).
• Attends and participates in meetings during normal duty hours and professional
• staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities such as, but not limited to the following: quality improvement meetings, professional staff meetings, commander's staff meetings, primary care staff meetings, appropriate meetings of the mental health flight, High Interest Log case staffing, daily clinic huddles, and others required by applicable regulations, MTF guidance, or as directed by supervisor.
• Provide technical expertise, guidance, and direct clinical services in the area of psychology to the Remote Piloted Aircraft (RPA) community for operational combat support. Utilizes knowledge of human factors, motivation, and behavioral/learning principles to maximize effectiveness of operators in a clinical setting. Enhance patient care to support RPA functions and mission readiness. Participate in training and conferences as indicated or directed by the 432nd Wing representative or local supervisor to develop specific skillsets in direct support of RPA operators.
• The contractor will abide by medical staff bylaws upon acceptance of privileges.

Qualifications

Degree/Education:

• Doctor of Philosophy (PH.D.) or Psy. D.) degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited psychology program or a program acceptable to the Office of the Surgeon General, U.S. Air Force.

Experience:

• Must have a minimum of one year experience as a clinical psychologist. Must have experience in brief behavioral interventions.
• Licensure: Maintain a current license to practice psychology in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
• Certifications:
• Shall hold and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS). Members must present proof of current certification(s) through American Red Cross to be presented on first day of work.
• Computer-based training does not constitute fulfilling the training requirements. Must maintain currency at NO cost to the government.
• Recertification is NOT provided by the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). Credential may not lapse for any period of time.

Working conditions

• Work Schedule: Monday-Friday between the hours of 0700 and 2000. Shifts are normally scheduled for a 9-hour period (0730-1630), to include an uncompensated 60-minute lunch break. Hours of Operation may fluctuate based on mission or clinic needs with approval from local contract representative or supervisor. In no instance will the 15 Contract Worker be required to provide services in excess of 40 scheduled hours per week, and hours are not to exceed the 1912 annual hour cap.

• If approved by the local contract representative or supervisor, the contractor may telework up to two half-days (for a total of 8 hours) per work, providing virtual telehealth services.
• Duty Hours: Monday through Friday, 8-hour days with 60-minutes uncompensated lunch breaks (total 9 hours).
• On-Call Hours: On-call requirements for each labor category are as follows: N/A
