Role Summary

The Operating Room Nurse Manager is a dynamic leadership role responsible for overseeing perioperative services and driving exceptional patient outcomes within a fast-paced surgical environment. This position blends clinical expertise with operational leadership, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care.

Working in close partnership with surgical services leadership and nursing teams, the Nurse Manager leads a high-performing operating room that functions seamlessly around the clock. This role is ideal for a collaborative, forward-thinking leader who is passionate about team development, process improvement, and delivering excellence in patient care.


Duties & ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary perioperative team including RNs, LPNs, Scrub Technicians, CNAs, and support staff

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and support professional development initiatives

  • Participate in recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of high-quality OR staff

Clinical Excellence & Patient Safety
  • Oversee intraoperative nursing care to ensure the highest standards of patient safety and clinical quality

  • Champion evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring dignity, privacy, and exceptional care throughout the surgical experience

Operations & Performance
  • Manage daily operating room operations, including staffing, workflow coordination, and resource allocation

  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels, equipment readiness, and supply availability

  • Support the development and management of operational and capital budgets

  • Lead performance improvement initiatives using data-driven insights and outcomes

Compliance & Quality
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards

  • Maintain and update policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines

  • Support accreditation readiness efforts and ongoing compliance initiatives

Collaboration & Communication
  • Partner effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary teams

  • Lead organizational and departmental change initiatives using strong communication and leadership skills

  • Resolve conflicts professionally and foster alignment across teams


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Oregon

  • Certifications required:

    • Basic Life Support (BLS)

    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

    • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

  • Minimum of five (5) years of Operating Room or Ambulatory Surgery experience

  • Experience across multiple surgical specialties, including but not limited to robotics, orthopedics, urology, general surgery, gynecology, neurology, ERCP, and vascular

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills


Desired Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred

  • CNOR certification preferred

  • Previous leadership or management experience in a perioperative setting

  • Experience with robotic surgery systems (including ION robotics)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a high-acuity, fast-paced surgical environment

  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and change management skills
