General Field Technician/Mechanic

Our Austin Equipment Yard has an outstanding opportunity for a General Field Technician/Mechanic for heavy civil projects in the North Texas area. Our technician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing various types of concrete and/or asphalt paving equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment operates smoothly
  • Identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues by using diagnostic equipment or by performing hands-on tests
  • Repairing or replacing broken parts, such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical components
  • Maintain detailed service records for each piece of equipment for warranty, compliance, and tracking purposes
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of service and repair experience with concrete and/or asphalt paving equipment
  • Prefer experience any of the following:
    • Roadtec, Wirtgen, Vogele, Weiler and other various brands of asphalt paving equipment
    • Gomaco, Miller Formless, Wirtgen, Guntert & Zimmerman, and other various brands of concrete paving equipment
  • Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance skills
  • Maintenance & Repair and Troubleshooting abilities
  • Mechanical aptitude with required knowledge of:
    • Diesel engines
    • Transmissions
    • Electrical systems
    • Hydraulic systems
  • Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Must have a strong commitment to jobsite safety
  • Diligent in demonstrating safe work practices

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED, or vocational training/certification
  • Valid driver's license
  • Requires working outdoors at times in the rain or snow and during cold, warm, and hot temperatures
  • Must be able to work hours adjusted to meet the project's needs; days, nights and weekends
